I got tix for Philly, May 19, but I had to get them through eBay...grrrr...bastards. Both shows were sold out as soon as tickets went on sale.

They need to not allow that to happen, somehow...

Concert tickets always have and will be first come first serve. I don't know how they could come up with a better solution. If someone wanted tickets so bad, why not be at the nearest ticketmaster outlet in advance?

It never has been as bad as it's been lately for some bands. There should be sales by phone and the Net for people who can't get to an outlet, either because they are working or are in school. A year or two ago, there was an article somewhere suggesting that Ticketbastard would take some *premium seats* and put them up for auction on eBay. My guess is they're doing that with a lot more than premium seats, especially since these shows are going to be in small clubs where the tickets don't cost much. I also wonder if the artists are in on this. I would hope not.

It's possible, but the tickets are pooled. Not every ticket could be bought via any one method.

That may be true, but the balance certainly is out of whack. Besides, going to an outlet doesn't guarantee a ticket, either. I stood in line with hundreds of people for Pear Jam tickets a couple of years ago and I was lucky enough to be far enough in the front of the line to get tickets. The hundreds of people behind me, who also waited hours and hours to get tickets, were SOL. I'm not sure there is enough of a balance. And I really think the presale thing with fan clubs is taking away a ton of public sale tickets. If you can't afford to join the fan club, again, you're SOL. People shouldn't have to pay $100 for a $30 ticket.

I agree with that, but people got shafted waiting in line for hours to see "The Doors" too.

Hey, Atlanta is 3 hours away from me.. and if I liked NIN I deffinetly would be at that concert.
edit: but I bet they put on a good show. i saw a clip one time of one of their performances from like the mid-90s and it looked cool

Maybe so, but the show wasn't sold out the minute tickets went on sale. There's just not as much opportunity to grab them.

If all the people in line were able to buy the tickets simultaneously, using multiple different methods. I would say any popular band from any era would sell out in a matter of minutes. Just my opinion though, I didn't make the thread to rub it in, scouts honor.

LOL, I know you didn't. But it's the prevalence of all the methods combined that is mucking things up for people who don't have computers, or can't get to the outlet. Back in the old days, it was either the venue or the phone. Ticketmaster outlets weren't all over the place the way they are now. They also didn't control/own the venues, either. I'm just saying it sucks when you try to buy a ticket at the time the sale starts, and it's already sold out before a minute passes.

the thing about buying tickets online is that as soon as u begin a transaction, it reserves those tickets. ticketmaster.com does it for like 7 minutes or something, but i think the presale held them indefinately. so when it says there are no tickets available, its not always true. I heard stories of people getting tickets 20-40 minutes after they went on sale.
edit: btw, i kno i've already said this, but i had no problem getting my tickets for the may 15th show in nyc. anyone else goin?

Yeah, I tried sporadically after my initial effort, but then I gave up and just checked eBay and found them that way....
I wish I could go to the NYC show, too, but I don't think I can get that day off from work.
