saw Mudvayne on the first, was such a good gig. they played a small venue in London, holds about 700 people. no support at all, but to be honest they didnt need any.
they played a couple of new tracks, including happy. The brand new ones seemed alot more like LD50 era mudvayne that The end of.... but i'm not complaining

Death Blooms is one of my favorite videos.
I bought the Ghost Ship DVD because there is a Mudvayne video, and well, I love the beginning too, where the people get cut in half and stuff, but mostly it was the video

Anyways, the lyrics to "Determined" rock my socks off *rolls eyes*. They are done. They cannot compete with LD50.

And WHY? would they compete with it? Musical groups, musicians, should grow, evolve, and change... as everything else in life does... I'm glad not all of their music sounds the same...

I meant artistically. LD50 was a very unique album, and didn't stick to structure a whole lot. Now they are more concerned about getting on the radio.

:hmm: Just because a song lacks structure or follows a particular pattern does not determine it's artistic value. Nor does it make the product an attempt to be played on radio. Mudvayne will never be top 40 friendly, but all musicians have to sell CDs if they are going to give up a considerable portion of their lives to tour and write and record music... Maybe the direction just doesn't agree with your ideals.

It's okies, well, LD50 is harder for the most part, and the songs are a bit more expirimental, they veer off and vary a bit more than The End of All Things to Come... so it depends on what YOU like, I guess...

No, you are hearing me wrong. I don't give two shits if it sounds like LD50 or not. What I'm concerned about is the level of creativity and thought that goes into the songs. LD50 had this and TEOATTC not so much. It's like listening to "Master of the Puppets" and then "St. Anger". I'm not saying TEOATTC is a horrible album, I'm just saying it lacked the level of surprise that LD50 contained.

I respectfully disagree, I think the levels of creativity are pretty equal, the writing and recording of the music was appraoched differently, as well as the tooling and mixing... I find them both equally engaging...
And Master of Puppets to St. Anger, wow you really feel strongly about this, because one is a masterpiece and the other, well just kinda :shit:

I respect that you like the song and everything, but I just don't like it. The lyrics and the new songs just aren't what they could be. Determined lyrics are terribly thought out and Home just doesn't do it for me. And yes I am serious about this. I'm a huge LD50 fan and was disappointed by the 2nd album (though not quite as much as what P7 has described to me). I just don't like what I hear. Again I respect your opinions, but that doesn't make me feel any less let down.

LD50 totally suprised me... same way tool did when i first heard them... its like a whole new musical concept... but i guess tool have so much to expand on, its harder for mudvayne as they have a very distinct sound...
the second album was just "more of the same" but on a different planet... it was a new idea, but with the same sound...
i really love both albums, but LD50 had the shock factor which made it a masterpiece... the end... was just another mudvayne album
