I'm supposed to pick a movie that I normally wouldn't watch.. watch it, then write about the movie. I want to pick a movie that is good, but that I normally wouldn't watch. The problem is I normally watch all kinds of movies.. except maybe children's movies or "chick flicks", but I don't really want to watch those. Any ideas?

Before Sunset. It could be described as a chick flick , but it fucking rules all sorts of love movie ass. Or In The Mood For Love.

i don't know if its the type of movie you'd normally watch or not... but Hellboy
i watched it the other day at a friends house because we rent movies that we think will be terrible and then watch them anyway
it turned out to be interesting... and very long.. but interesting nonetheless

I thought about doing that movie myself. The only problem is I like the movie (which really isn't that big of deal). When did that come out though? He wants us to relate the movie to society. If it came out in the 70s or 80s it would be hard to do. But I could probably do the 70s.. even though I wasn't alive then.

Easy Rider is another good one. But it's fairly old...
How about the Matrix, Star Wars trilogy, Unfaithful, or Secretary or Crash (if you're a bit daring and willing to buck the system)?
Or Last Tango in Paris or Lolita? These two were controversial in their own right...

Dazed and Confused...
You want to relate a movie to society? It doesn't get much better than Dazed and Confused.

Bulworth. Political, humourous, and has foul language.
But this is the movie I suggest for everyone to watch, regardless of their personal taste.

Punch Drunk Love.
Big Fish.
House of Sand and Fog.
Nightmare Before Christmas.
Before Sunset bored me to death...but I agree it's a good choice

that reminds me, Wall Street...you can write a whole book on the mindset of the 80s with this movie...
