Some Kinda Led Zep news:

John Paul Jones will be appearing on the new Foo Fighters album due out later this year.

Details:
Foo Fighters have landed guest appearances by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and singer/songwriter Norah Jones for their upcoming double album, which will feature one disc of rock tracks and another of songs recorded in acoustic settings. With basic tracks completed, the band will now focus on overdubs and final vocals, with an eye on releasing the album this summer.

"We've recorded a lot of music for this record," guitarist Chris Shiflett writes on the Foos' message board. "It's over 40 songs or versions of songs. Of course, that'll get narrowed down to about half of that number for the final track list."

Shiflett gushes about the appearance of John Paul Jones, who contributed mellotron, piano and mandolin to several songs. "That guy is like royalty but he was so down to earth and cool, it was incredible," he says. "Of course, we managed to sneak in a few Zeppelin trivia questions and he even riffed 'Kashmir' on the mellotron for a minute."

I saw him and his band The Strange Sensation (w/ Clive Deamer and John Baggot from Portishead's touring entourage) on RaveHD and thought some of the stuff was pretty cool.

I heard on my local classic rock radio station a couple weeks ago that zeppelin were going to reunite at some show in great britain with bonhams son on drums. If they still enjoyed performing then they would do a world tour. That's one concert I wouldn't miss.

- I think I'd prefer the drummer that played with Page and Plant on No Quarter and the not-so good Walking into Clarksdale.

- Led Zeppelin confirm reunion gig (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6990704.stm)

Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will play at the show to remember the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

The one-off concert, the trio's first performance for 19 years, will take place at the O2 arena on 26 November.

Tickets will cost £125 and be allocated by ballot. Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and Paolo Nutini will also perform.

Ertegun, who signed Led Zeppelin in 1968, died last year.

MojoFearsSatan
September 15th, 2007, 06:30 PM
Why would they bother? There's already DVD footage of them when they weren't old, and a gig of their geriatric selves at work wouldn't be able to compare, even if the show and the camerawork is more modern and flash.
