I know Chine Moreno had this side project called Team Sleep, that (as far as I know) hadn´t released any record yet. But there´s a song on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack called "The Passportal", which I think is from them. Is that correct?

I'll have to scan in the live review from Kerrang! It's very funny.

On the original album there's an awesome song called Kool Aid Party with Mike Patton. It's dark and creepy and reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd. I've listened to the reworked album and it's pretty good, but I prefer the original unmastered album. I have it on my server if anyone wants it...both, in fact.

I was at that show. I actually thought it was pretty good, though the stuff about the drummer was right. Good drummer, could have done with shutting up every so often, he kept hitting things at random during Natalie Portman (they medleyed it with Live From The Stage), which was annoying.
And holly, the album's been out a couple of months now. And is very, very good. Though Natalie Portman is still my favourite track of theirs, there are some superb tracks on the album, in particular Our Ride To The Rectory and Ataraxia.

points for consideration here, James.
1. You love the Smashing Pumpkins like Ryan loves NIN. Therefore your opinion is biased.
2. The recording quality is terrible.
3. That recording comes from 2001. It is now 2005 and the band never released that cover, probably because they realised that it wasn't exactly good.

They're gonna do a special semi-acoustic performance at a record store here in Denver, next Thursday i think, maybe I'll go. It might be cool, they'll sign autographs. i hope to get the chance to meet Chino.

Do they sound like Deftones?

I picked this up a little while ago, and while some songs are kinda cool, I was mostly dissapointed. A lot of the album... I found was actually annoying to listen to. I haven't heard anything that isn't on the album though, but I'm trying to download this "Natalie Portman" track. It's now queued in Soulseek...

Do they sound like Deftones?
What would be the point in a side project if it sounded exactly the same as his other band? OK, bear in mind that 'Teenager' and 'Lucky You' by Deftones were both Team Sleep tracks that were converted into Deftones songs. Team Sleep often sound like that. Sometimes they have more electronica and stuff, sometimes they're more aggressive. I like Team Sleep a lot. It's not for everybody, but with a bit of patience it's rewarding.

I asked because I've heard someone say they did sound like Deftones, which as you already said, would be pointless. I was just hoping they didn't sound like Deftones.
Hmm, I didn't care too much for the song Lucky You...
I'll probably pick this up sometime this week.

i'm not going to listen to it for a while.
that's usually how i get myself to like cds that i questioned at first. i listen to it after a break and realize i like it better than i thought i did.

That's how I am. I don't think I really liked any of my favorite albums that much on 1st listen. When i first got Lateralus, i remember thinking 'I'll never memerize these damn songs' It all just sounded so random and maybe even out of place.
Maybe we just enjoy songs better when we know what to expect and have parts of the song to look foreward to...

They're creative and pretty diverse. There's not a bunch of hooks, but it's great stuff nonetheless.

i knew that you knew. but i was just saying that it's the same stylings and everything as from deftones songs... but he doesn't sing all of them, so if you (not you in particular) don't like Chino's singing (like my brother) you might still want to give it a shot.

I say that if you're a fan of White Pony, you'll probably like Team Sleep.
Honestly, I don't see that it's the same style as Deftones. It's similar to a select few songs, namely ones from White Pony, but that's about it. It's less rock-oriented that any Deftones album.
