Anyone else looking forward to this season in Nascar? Any predictions? I think Jimmie Johnson is looking to be one of the favorites for the Cup. Personally, I think Jr. is going to fall short again. I think that crew swap with Waltrip might have been a mistake.

and...I think you're right with Jr. and Waltrip...although I am rooting for Junior though...

KenKill75

I dont root for Jr. He's too popular, and #1 it gets on my nerves the way everyone kisses his ass, and #2, I think he's become a little arrogant because of it. But thats just me.

Underdog of the year, Kyle Petty. I like him even though he hasnt done squat in a very long time. But this year they're using Evernham engines and I think he will be much improved.

I know what you're getting at. But from my perspective, he isn't really that arrogant (from the few races that I've seen).

I think you're right again. I would love to see Dale Jarrett make a comeback. But I don't see it happening... :barney:

KenKill75
February 14th, 2005, 11:16 AM
Well, ive heard some comments that he's made that seemed condescending to other drivers to me.

Jarrett might be pretty good. He sure looked very fast while getting that Pole yesterday. I dont think he'll win the championship, but he could have a good year.

They should race on more road courses... but with all the new racing complexes, that wouldn't be very financially sound...

And Greg Biffle calls it the worst day of his life coming in 3rd. What a fuckin jerk. Way to take things for granted you unappreciative sack of shit. Maybe he needs a REAL tragedy in his life so he can see exactly the kind of thing that should be considered the worst day of one's life.

I drove an 81 lap race at Atlanta a few days ago. Coming out of the final turn, we were 3 wide battling for the win. I was in the middle, slipped up the race track just enough to make contact with the guy on the outside and spun out. Spun across the finish line in 7th. Then I played it again a couple of days later and finished 2nd. I love racing a decent number of laps like that, with all the assists off so that its as realistic as possible, and with my racing wheel. Some intense, fun, white knuckle racing.

There are actually alot of little details that constantly vary during a race. From accelation and variations in tire pressures, to race course debris, to other racers around you, to speed fluctuations. On short tracks, drivers downshift through the turns and there are extreme steering variations. On super speedways there is a constant awareness of always moving into and out of a curve with the most efficiency, and smallest loss of speed.
As well as pit stops...

Part of the skill is the endurance as well... as with any endurance sport, keeping the mind focused is part of the challenge...

So last night, I went for it. Talladega, full 500 mile race, on the hardest difficulty. Was doing really well, drafted with a couple of different cars at different points to push us far ahead of the pack. Cycled through a couple of pit stops, all is well. Then some boner causes a caution on lap 115. I go in to pit since it was 30 laps since my last stop, but no one else goes in, which is bullcrap, that would never happen. But anyway, when the race went back to green I was back in 24th. First lap after that I end up getting spun as I try to work my way back up. No biggy. Go back in the pits under caution, restart in 24th again. Back to green, I start workin my way up. For some reason everybody checks up, I go flyin by them on the high side, but then get to a pack that gets in the way and I dont have time to brake. So I rear end a guy and my front end is all fucked, but we stay under green. Well, problem is now im not up to speed with the damage. Since nobody pitted on the other cautions, they start pitting soon. Before you know it im back in the lead, but they're gonna catch up since my car is slower with the damage. So I get this dumbass, idiotic idea in my head to wait til no one is around me and spin myself out to cause a caution so I can pit without losing track position. Needless to say I fucked myself and wrecked my car on lap 142 out of 188. 2 hours down the shitter. :shame:

Yeah, I felt Busch came down on him anyway when he had his nose in there, but it was cool cause Busch was the one who got fucked. I cant believe Gordon came back from 3 laps down to win. That was crazy. Good race overall. Always is at Martinsville.
