Yesterday, I got to the Nashville airport at 3:00. My flight was at 6:45. I stood in the security line, watching dozens of people throw away expensive perfume/cologne, shampoo, lipstick, etc etc. It only took about 20 minutes, so it was then 3:30.
At about 5:00 was when I first got the report that the city I had a connecting flight in, Atlanta, had frozen all flights coming and going due to weather. 40-mile-an-hour winds. Great. The flight to ATL the hour before mine was delayed at least two hours. There were bunches of other people going to Portland on my flight. Luckily, I had the foresight to realize that I was not, in fact, getting to Portland last night. I went ahead and changed tickets, and airlines, for a flight at 8:00 this morning going through Minneapolis.
I then headed toward baggage claim to get my suitcase and get out of there. Security would not let me out. Apparently, there had been a breach, and they had again frozen all traffic going in and out of the airport itself. Nobody was allowed in security. They had police officers, rentacops, and dogs looking for a guy, and after searching the entire airport for almost an hour, they realized that the guy had been sitting on a chair in the security gate the entire time. Awesome. They handcuffed him and took him away.
Then, went down to baggage claim, where they told me I would have to wait at least two hours to get my suitcase. I told them to forward it to Portland, and that I wouldn't worry about it. Lady promised me it would be in Portland with me. I finally left the airport at 9:00 PM.
Flew this morning, tired as hell, to Portland. Realized after take-off that Northwest has conveniently stopped serving any kind of food for free. Not even pretzels or peanuts. Yeah. Those cost a dollar now. Had no money. Fished out a granola bar that I had in my purse from three months ago. LOL.
Got to Portland, bag wasn't on the conveyor belt, I stood in line with my stepdad for 45 minutes to fill out a report, and then I decided to walk over to the lost and found place, just for shits and giggles. My suitcase was sitting there. Neat.
Got to my mom's house, and found out that she has severe food poisoning and has been on the couch sick since yesterday morning, and has a temperature of 101.
I'm tired.
Goodnight.
