So tonight we were driving home from a restaurant, sitting at an intersection, waiting for our light to turn green. Across from us, people had the green light, and they were turning left/going straight, when all of a sudden a red Ford Explorer started swerving through the intersection, in reverse. Everyone was honking, like "wtf?" I thought the person was drunk.
As Greg's mom joined the throng of honkers, I realized something. I realized that there was nobody in the car. Oh. My. God. Other people started to realize it, too, and all at once everyone threw their cars into reverse and started trying to get out of the way of the crazy car. It finally came to a stop, miraculously not hitting anyone, but it started to roll again. Luckily, there happened to be a police car right there, and the officer jumped out of his car and into the Explorer to stop it.
Greg's dad was at the gas station filling up right next to the guy. He said he didn't even realize what had happened until he heard the siren, looked over, thought "huh- where did that Explorer go?" and all of a sudden saw a guy running frantically out of the gas station and to his car.
I have no idea if he got a ticket or not, but it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen, when all's said and done.
