One of the best players of all time, in any professional sport, is finally returning tonight.
This man is a true role model in a world in desparate need of one.
He came back from a knee injury that would have ended 99% of athlete's careers, and was still a contributing factor on the team.
Then on May 1st, 2004, he was struck in the face with a deflected slapshot. He suffered a fractured cheekbone, a scratched cornea and other injuries. (http://www.theoaklandpress.com/images/photos5.8/7743_256.jpg) (click for a picture).
He has not played competitive hockey since that day.
He returns to the ice tonight, against the Los Angeles Kings, after more than a year.
It's great to have him back.
