it just wasn't working. i guess people felt more comfortable posting in the private red eye lounge, so what's the point? it'll make the board seem completely dead.

If you set it in your preferences, new PMs will cause a little window to pop up either when you log on, or when you refresh, to alert you to a new PM. For some of us, I guess, it hasn't been doing that.
