i personally don't care about ricky having left because what wound up happening was that the head coach and jay fiedler got kicked off and new coaches were brought in. it was a blessing in disguise now that i look back on it.

plus, he's a hell of a running back. a freak show, yes, but i don't care as long as he runs the damn ball.

i agree....they'll play him this season and try to get trade value for him, maybe a 3rd or 4th round pick.....the Jets will need a rb after this season, i don't think Martin will play in 2006...they did sign Blaylock(Chiefs) but i don't think he will be Martin's successor(sp?)...

The Detroit Lions have agreed to a deal with wide receiver Mike Williams of Southern California, the team's first-round pick.

Terms of the contract are for five years at $13.5 million, $10.5 million of which is guaranteed

Williams led the Trojans in receiving yards (1,314) and touchdowns (16) as a sophomore in 2003, but has not played competitive football since.

After a court ruled in February 2004 that Maurice Clarett was eligible to play in the league, Williams hired an agent and tried to follow him. But an appeals court overturned the earlier ruling and upheld the NFL's right to bar players who had been out of high school less than three years.

Williams attempted to return to USC for his junior season, but the NCAA turned down his request last August. He spent last season training with former Minnesota receiver Cris Carter.

Yeah, McNabb's always been a pretty class act, and T.O., well his record speaks for itself. He's a ME player and he'll always be a ME player. That fucking agent of his is a prick. Bottom line, T.O. knew what the fuck he was signing and he thought (wrongly) that the Eagles would bend to his demands. Wrong. He should shut the fuck up and let his play do the talking. All he's doing with this fucking circus is making it worse. Half the team is fed up with this cry-baby bullshit. Dononvan's the man in Philly right now and that's that.

Moss acknowledges occasional use of marijuana
NEW YORK (AP) — Oakland Raiders receiver Randy Moss admits he has used marijuana since entering the NFL seven years ago and still smokes it "every blue moon."
"I have used, you know, marijuana ... since I've been in the league," Moss said in an interview for HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" scheduled to air Tuesday night. "But as far as abusing it and, you know, letting it take control over me, I don't do that, no."

When pressed whether he still smokes marijuana, the star receiver with the checkered past said: "I might. I might have fun. And, you know, hopefully ... I won't get into any trouble by the NFL by saying that, you know. I have had fun throughout my years and, you know, predominantly in the offseason.

"But, you know, I don't want any kids, you know, watching this taking a lesson from me as far as 'Well, Randy Moss used it so I'm going to use it.' I don't want that to get across. Like I say ... I have used (marijuana) in the past, and every blue moon or every once in a while I might."

The NFL's drug policy calls for up to 10 tests a month after one positive result. A second violation results in a fine equal to the player's salary for four games, a third in a four-game suspension, and a year's suspension for a fourth violation. Moss has never been suspended for violating the league's drug policy, and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said it is confidential whether the receiver is in the drug program or not.

"We evaluate all conduct related to substance abuse, and it is handled confidentially by the doctors," Aiello said.

Moss was traded from the Minnesota Vikings in early March. He was limited by a hamstring injury last season and finished with 49 catches for 767 yards and 13 touchdowns. It was the first time in his seven seasons that he didn't reach 1,000 yards receiving.

Moss has had problems on and off the field throughout his collegiate and pro career. He lost scholarships at Notre Dame and Florida State because of a battery charge and marijuana use. He set records at Marshall and clearly was the most dynamic receiver in the 1998 draft, but lasted until 21st overall because of his past troubles.

Last year, Moss was fined $10,000 for pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay crowd during Minnesota's playoff win. He also drew criticism for leaving the field with two seconds left in a regular-season loss against Washington. Other transgressions include bumping a traffic control officer with his car in 2002, verbally abusing corporate sponsors on a team bus in 2001, and squirting an official with a water bottle in 1999.

:sigh: this is so assinine... all they should worry about is performance enhancing in athletics... if he is arrested, let it go there... but come now, all pot can do is hurt athletic performance if one smokes too much... :shame:

Browns send WR Andre' Davis to Pats for draft pick

By Tom Withers, Associated Press
CLEVELAND — Andre' Davis final fly pattern for the Browns took him all the way to New England.
Davis, pushed to the side at Cleveland's training camp, was traded Monday to the Patriots, giving the Super Bowl champions depth at a position thinned by injuries as well as an experienced kick returner.

The Browns received an undisclosed draft pick for Davis, a speedy former second-round selection in 2002 who had become a forgotten man with Cleveland.

His departure continues an overhaul of the Browns roster by general manager Phil Savage, who — since taking over in January — has released or traded 21 players who started at least one game last season.

In New England, Davis will get a fresh start with a consistent winner, something the Browns are years away from becoming.

"I'm a big, fast receiver," Davis said in Foxboro, Mass. "I think I can get in and out of my cuts fairly well. Whatever I can do, I'm going to make sure that I do it to the best of my ability and make sure that I'm a smart player because I know Bill Belichick wants smart players."

Davis had been mentioned in trade talks for several months. He became expendable after the Browns drafted rookie Braylon Edwards, and Antonio Bryant and Dennis Northcutt both emerged during camp. Davis also had lost his job as Cleveland's No. 1 kick returner to rookie Joshua Cribbs.

Now he has to win a roster spot with the Patriots.

Deion Branch, last season's Super Bowl MVP, and David Givens likely will start for New England. The team also has veterans Troy Brown, Bethel Johnson, Tim Dwight and David Terrell, and youngsters P.K. Sam, Jason Anderson and Brandon "Bam" Childress.

Johnson, Dwight, Terrell and Sam have all missed time during training camp with injuries.

"We'll put him (Davis) into the mix and see what he can do," Belichick said.

The 26-year-old Davis, who received permission last week from the Browns to seek a trade, won't have much time to make an impression with his new team. Rosters must be reduced to 65 players by Aug. 30 and to the regular-season limit of 53 by Sept. 4.

"I'm ready to learn," Davis said. "I think I'm a smart guy. It's going to be a little bit of a whirlwind, but I think I'm up for this challenge."

The trade was the first between the Patriots and Browns since Romeo Crennel was hired as Cleveland's coach. Crennel was New England's defensive coordinator the past four seasons.

Davis was selected with the No. 47 overall pick in 2002 by former Browns coach Butch Davis, who thought the former Virginia Tech track star's speed would open things up for Cleveland's offense. However, injuries have slowed Davis' development.

Because of a nagging toe injury, he started only seven games and had 16 receptions for 416 yards and two touchdowns last season. One of those TDs was a 99-yarder from Jeff Garcia, tying an NFL record.

Davis' days seemed over in Cleveland last week when Crennel said the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder was having "an average camp."

"I really didn't want out of Cleveland," said Davis, who has started 19 games in three seasons. "That was a business decision that was made by both managements. Now I'm here with New England. I'm just a player."

that might work...although i don't think the jags will give up that much(the offensive lineman)...it might just be Garrard straight up...remember no team will give up too much for Ricky cause they won't know how long he'll play...the dolphins know this, so they're hoping for at least a 3rd round pick...

yeah our whole offense is a negative imo....it's our defense that should be #1...we'll see what Coker has up his sleeve....

sounds like the dolphins. :shame:

MAGO

 ....it's ok...defense wins championships....actually i think the Dolphins could be a dangerous team, it's just that Ricky can't play the first 4 and i don't think the rookie will make that much of a difference, at least not this year....their passing game is horrible though...

jazz
September 2nd, 2005, 08:08 AM
i watched the dolphins game from start to finish last night and was horrified by their passing game. their offensive line gave up a ton of false starts. it was pathetic to watch.

then in the second half, they let our third qb (sage rosenfels) play and he looked solid compared to the other two.

MAGO
September 2nd, 2005, 08:12 AM
yeah don't read too much into last nights game though...normally all the starters sit the final pre-season game....teams let all the subs play so they can make their final decision on who gets cut and who makes the team....i didn't even watch the Jet game last night.....i did beat your dolphins by 40 on Madden though :hide:

jazz
September 2nd, 2005, 08:15 AM
i think they should still give rosenfels a serious look though. he looked poised, he's a tall guy at 6'4" so that's a plus for looking downfield...i don't know, he just looked solid to me with all of his passes.

but yeah, everyone who should look good looks bad in the preseason and vice versa.

MAGO
September 2nd, 2005, 08:17 AM
interesting..i wasn't aware of that qb...well, should your team get off to a horrible start, i wouldn't be surprised if he starts towards the end of the season.....

Cowboys may make the Playoffs, given some luck...but they won't make it through the Playoffs (the GIGO effect) if they do get there...

all the offensive weapons that Bledsoe has and they'll still miss the playoffs....Bledsoe SUCKS!...all you can hope for is that Bledsoe gets injured and Romo or Henson become the next Brady :what:

Marta was watching the football game with me when she said, "You know, most of these sports are based on the idea of one group protecting its territory from invasion by another group." "Yeah," I said, trying not to laugh. Girls are funny.

Pats won tonight, woooo-hoooooooooooo! Brady looked pretty good. Dillon was a little slow out of the gate, but he recovered nicely with a couple of TDs. It looked at one point as if Brady was bitching him out on the sideline, so maybe that got him in gear. Kerry Collins still sucks, but Randy's still dangerous. That one TD catch was pretty cool.

if they don't make it to the superbowl, you're gonna have to run out onto the football field (naked, of course) screaming that this site's better than the jets.

ok? deal. :shake:
