Yea, I've been very impressed by Skins over the last few weeks, though to be really successful I think they'll need more offense; they only have two receiving threats, really, Cooley and Moss, plus Portis... mind you, Carolina have shown us just how far a team can go with just ONE offensive weapon.

I'd love to see Reggie Wayne in the Burgundy and Gold next year. He's about to become a UFA and having the boys from "The U" (Moss, Portis, Taylor) should help in recruiting the guy to the Skins. I don't think the Colts are going to be able to resign him with all of the money they have tied up in Manning, Harrison, and Edge. They definitely need a legit #2 threat. Patten, while not putting up big numbers, was great for this. His speed and route running made it so teams had to respect him, which prevented people from rolling their coverage to Moss. Jacobs (All-World in practice) couldn't get it done when Patten went down. Has there ever been a more pitiful school at producing NFL players than the Gators? Thrash has lost a step and was hurt a good portion of the season. Another viable WR would go a long ways towards opening this offense up.

The other thing we need is a bit of depth on the DL, most notably a pass rushing DE. Hopefully that's something we can pick up in the draft and focus on a WR in free agency.

But see I don't see that as an excuse even. And let's be honest, that was one of the worst games protection wise that's been played in a while. Manning was under pressure then entire game. You can't stay in the pocket and make great passes when you can't even complete a five step drop.

I'll agree that the QB is the leader of the team, but giving 21 points as early as they did didn't help out either. 21 points is too many in the playoffs, Manning had nothing to do with that.

Here's why this one goes on Manning. He calls the plays at the line. He couldn't read the defense yesterday. The Steelers did a phenomonal job at disguising their blitz schemes and Manning did a horrible job audibling. Face it, defense and running games win in January. The Colts had too little of both while the Steelers had plenty. I expect to see the same against the 'Hawks next week when they play Carolina. The Skins already exposed them and the Panthers should be able to capitalize on it.

Maybe they can build a time machine and go back and get Marino in his prime. Then he could have a legit shot at winning a Super Bowl with the running game you all have and a stronger defense than he ever had when he played. =D

I like the Skins, albeit mainly because I DON'T like the Cowboys, but still, I like Washington, and it was really engrossing watching their matches towards the end of the season since they were always on Sky Sports. I'd like to see them pick up Reggie too, you know? For two reasons. 1) It means Washington will become an even more fun side to watch, and 2) It means the Colts lose one of their top receivers, bwahahaha.

true, but in both the last two games the Steelers have come out throwing the ball, and Denver really restricted the Pittsburgh running game; Bettis 15-39 and Parker 14-35. Big Ben threw 275 yards. So the offense is getting a bit more rounded. A bit.

denver's a solid run defense, so pitt had to throw a bit although they never totally moved away from the run

seattle's the most boring all around team in the league though, at least carolina likes to throw it a bit and open the field up

but pitt will beat either team from the nfc, that's for sure

It would. I'd love to see that. The End-around Direct Snap Flea Flicker, or whatever that Randle-El/Roth/Wilson play against Cincy can be called, and the End Around TD pass that Randle-El threw against Cleveland are classic trick play moments... not to mention the points in the previous couple of weeks when Roth was out, and at points they had Randle-El back taking the snaps, not just to do the direct snap run like he sometimes does, and Mark Clayton at the Ravens does, among others, but to throw too

breastnorton
February 1st, 2006, 09:03 PM
yeah but i think ward might have a stronger arm, he was a pretty decent QB at georgia, for 6 games, but he did have a great game that year in the peach bowl throwing for something like 430 yards

MojoFearsSatan
February 1st, 2006, 09:12 PM
Yeah, Ward has a stronger arm, but I'd trust Randle-El with the throws more than him for accuracy purposes. Here's my proposed play: Roethlisberger takes the snap and throws a screen-type lateral pass to Randle-El; Randle-El throws one relatively short pass to Ward a few yards in front of him, who promptly launches an overarm lateral the width of the pitch to Big Ben sprinting around the other side. Dangerous, highly improbable, but would be fun, no?

breastnorton
February 1st, 2006, 09:14 PM
yeah

but man, when those three lineup on the field at one time, i'm sure any defense is watching everything

MojoFearsSatan
February 1st, 2006, 09:20 PM
Yeah. That's why I don't want the Steelers to let Randle-El go in the offseason. He's not the most prolific of receivers (the TD against the Colts was his first TD reception since week 1, though he's returned a couple of punts for TDs), but though they run the ball more than any other side, you can never let your guard slip with them because they have more potential for trick plays than most other sides, and Randle-El is a very large part of said trick plays. It was all on the commentary for the Cincinnati game "they said they had some tricks in the works... Ken Whisenhunt said he had something in particular, he said 'I won't give you any specifics, but it involves Randle-El'"... well, duh. About 90% of Steelers trick plays involve Randle-El...

Dolphins' Taylor stabbed in road rage incident (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5562712)

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor suffered a minor stab wound in a road rage incident Sunday night, according to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

"My wife and I were the victims of an unfortunate incident last night, but we are both fine," Taylor said Monday in a statement released by his charity foundation. "I truly appreciate everyone's concern."

Redmond Charles Burns was arrested on three charges, including aggravated battery/hate crime, after he allegedly assaulted Taylor.

Seth Levit, who is the chairman of the Jason Taylor Foundation, said the cut on Taylor's left forearm was so minor that he wasn't wearing a bandage while playing in a charity golf tournament on Monday morning to benefit the charity foundation of Tampa Bay Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks.

The Sun-Sentinel, citing a Davie, Fla. police report, said Taylor and his wife Katina (the sister of Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas) were driving home from church when they noticed a red pickup truck driving toward them on State Road 84's westbound lanes. Taylor honked his horn and the two vehicles avoided an accident.

Taylor was later driving behind the truck, which was traveling at 10 mph when he tried to pass on the left. As Taylor passed, the red truck intentionally swerved toward him, effectively forcing the Dolphins' veteran to drive off the road.

With the two cars stopped, an unidentified passenger got out of the truck and banged on Taylor's trunk. Burns, who had been driving the truck, also got out and started using racial obscenities and then threatened to kill Taylor.

The 5-foot-11 Burns retrieved an unknown metal object from the truck and tried to stab the 6-foot-6 Taylor.

Taylor was cut on his left forearm as he backed away from Burns.

Taylor drove after the truck, called 911, and later identified Burns from a photo lineup after losing sight of the vehicle.

During the arrest, Burns kicked and punched a police officer and later at a window in a police car before police used pepper spray to subdue him.

In addition to the battery charge, the 24-year-old Burns was arrested for resisting with and without violence.

Football was meant to be played in the cold and snow, not the heat....that's why the superbowls suck!...they spend more time worried about being able to pull off the half-time show than the actual game.. :shame: ...
