I agree, more times than not on that logic. Considering who they played this year, the NFC East and AFC East, and throw in also the noteworthy stat of western teams flying to the east on the road...........and you have to say they did what they should have done, won their weak division, and lost when traveling east when they should have also.

Again, considering those two divisions they played....I think they did what I would have expected them to do. The Giants had a better record than the Cards and the Eagles, yet the more "legit" team in your eyes couldn't even get past a wild card team. The Eagles beat them in convincing fashion, IMO. I don't think the outcome would be any different had the Giants faced the Cards. They deserve this. :cents:

The first time Michael Irvin watched "American Idol," he loved the concept of giving undiscovered singers the chance to become stars. Now Irvin is doing the same for NFL wannabes.

The Hall of Fame receiver is launching a reality TV show in which 12 "football neophytes" will compete for an impressive grand prize: a spot on the Dallas Cowboys' training camp roster.

"I don't know if you can walk upon any group of guys that wouldn't say they dreamed of playing in the NFL when they were playing in their front yard," Irvin told The Associated Press on Thursday. "So we're going to take a group of guys from their front yard, dwindle them to one and give that guy the opportunity of a lifetime."

The Cowboys confirmed that one of their 80 roster spots will go to the show's winner. The NFL did not immediately return a call.

this is the last thing the cowboys need, but i admit it would make for an interesting tv show.

I don't like Warner, either. Part of it is his bringing God into all things football. I don't think God has anything to do with his football success and I just hate it that he mentions Jesus or God at every turn. He's not the only one who does it, but I just hate the whole thing. He comes off smug sometimes, too. Not overtly, but there is just something about his attitude or body language that irritates me. Anyway, I don't like either team, so I don't care who wins.

That was one hell of a game at the end. To tell the truth, I immediately called no TD on Santonio, but think it probably was. The fumble at the end I thought was definitely an incompletion, but didn't even get the chance to see a replay on our feed before Steelers took a knee. To tell the truth I kind of wanted to see Arizona get one last chance to Hail Mary it. Surely that must set a record for number of flags flying in a superbowl game.

still, when Fitz took that one to the house, I thought it was a case of the Hollywoods again (the plucky underdogs vs. the unstoppable force at SB XLII, and the incredibly cheesy movie ending of SB XL), with Warner leading his team to the improbable fightback. I wouldn't have begrudged them it, I mean Arizona are like, the eternal underdogs (unless they faced the Lions in the championship game of course).

jazz
February 1st, 2009, 10:49 PM
the steelers were hardly unstoppable like we all thought they would be.

the cardinals, particularly their retarded left tackle, continually shot themselves in the foot all game long (and i mean ALL GAME LONG). the steelers didn't even cover the spread.

Idunno, I know the Steelers, and they like to make things hard for themselves. It's like, the only way they can guarantee Big Ben will play well is to make him have to. I'll admit there were some dumb penalties (both teams giving up holding on receivers, and Adrian Wilson running into the holder on the FG attempt). I just had the feeling as soon as the Cards started moving the ball on that 88 yard no-huddle drive, they were going to win; it was just how the com team kept saying Fitzgerald hadn't been a factor, and how Warner was the NFL's man of the year, it just felt inevitable.

MojoFearsSatan

Aaron Francisco was the guy. I dunno why Harrison was on him, presumably he said something or did something Harrison didn't like while the play was still alive, but no excuses, that was ridiculous on Harrison's part. We later got a sporting vengeance anyway as it was his slipping over that allowed Santeria to run down to the 5 yard line.

Comcast Tucson Airs Graphic Porn During Super Bowl

Tucson, Arizona was probably not the best place to watch the game last night. Partly because of the disappointing result, but mostly because of the huge, flapping penis.

With under three minutes left and just after Larry Fitzgerald's heroic comeback(ish) touchdown for the Cardinals, the video feed abruptly switched to a scene from stablemate channel Club Jenna, treating viewers to the sight of seemingly omnipresent porn guy Evan Stone swinging his junk around like a maniac. This interlude lasted about 30 seconds.

Comcast told the Arizona Daily Star that engineers have been "working throughout the night" to figure out what happened, but haven't yet come up with an explanation. It could have been a simple case of human error, but given just how wrong it all went, I'd put my money on a disgruntled outgoing employee. Video of the event below, obviously NSFW. Everybody has a price, even to let their kids watch a waggling penis during the Superbowl (http://i.gizmodo.com/5144199/prank-of-the-year-comcast-tucson-airs-graphic-porn-during-super-bowl-nsfw). But I think that price is more than $5, Comcast.

According to an unconfirmed bit of information from the Consumerist, Comcast is giving their subscribers in Tuscon, AZ, a one-time $5 discount apiece in apologies for the pornography mixup during the Superbowl. On one hand, that's a completely absurd amount of money to offer any family who had to explain what was going on to a scarred four-year-old girl. On the other, could Comcast make this right with any sort of compensation?

Well, there's only one way to find out. Offer us more, Comcast. Do something better.

We also have several other unfunny injokes, like calling Sidney Rice "Condoleezza's little boy", explaining that the Steelers named Heinz Field after Hines Ward, Jay "Touchy" Feely, and calling Tony Scheffler "The Chef" and making all manner of terrible culinary puns from it.

As luck would have it, on the Monday afternoon replays of the game they cut all that crap out as they just go straight from drive to drive without any of the pauses, so it's much better.

I am bummed about B-Dawk going away. Now it's ALL on McNabb...which means if the team goes south, he will take on all of the heat that comes with it. Big John Runyan won't have his back either. I think da Iggles will be in last place in the NFC East this coming season, followed by the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins fighting for first place. The Cowboys may get first place since they had an ego cleanse this season, which will make them a better team than previous with Tank, TO, etc.

Agreed about McNabb, but I don't hold out much hope. He's not one for accepting blame. I love Runyan, too. He's awesome in interviews because he actually answers questions sometimes :bleu: I don't think the Iggles will do all that well, either. Too many veterans gone and some of the replacements are meh. 2 Immigrants Murdered Execution-Style at Condo of Former New York Jets Player

NEW YORK — Investigators suspect two African immigrants slain at a Long Island condo owned by an NFL player may have been killed in retaliation for a fake money scam, police said Tuesday.

Sekou Sakor and Ansu Keita were each shot in the head last week at a vacant condominium in Woodbury, N.Y., owned by Jonathan Vilma. There were no arrests.

The New Orleans Saints linebacker and former New York Jets player was not there at the time and "there's no indication that he was involved," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

A lawyer for Vilma said his client "was as shocked as anyone" by news of the killings.

"Of course, he has absolutely nothing to do with this crime and will do everything possible to help the police solve it," said attorney Michael Tein.

Vilma moved out of the home, which is up for sale, in November 2007, the lawyer said.

Police officials said investigators believe the victims may have been mixed up in a so-called "black money" scheme.

Victims are sent e-mails saying that they could receive $100 bills smuggled from overseas — stained black to avoid detection — if they purchase a special chemical to wash it off; what they end up getting is a pile of worthless paper.

It was unclear how Sakor, 31, and Keita, 32, both originally from Liberia, ended up at Vilma's home, where neighbors reported shots fired on Thursday night. Sakor's body was found Friday dumped in Queens; Keita's body was found in Brooklyn.

Kelly said investigators had recovered blood at the Long Island home and evidence of the possible money scam at the Bronx apartment the victims shared.

Police also were seeking to question a relative of Vilma who had access to the condominium, located in a luxury gated development about 13 miles from the Jets' former training camp at Hofstra University.

Nassau County police, who also were investigating, declined comment.

Vilma, who played college football at Miami, joined the Saints last season after four years with the Jets. He was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.
