well, it is a jerry jones-led team. :ha:

aaaanyways, parcells said that he wouldn't announce a move for the pick until a couple of days before the draft or right when it starts. personally, i think we should keep the pick after the hell we went through this past season, but we do need the extra picks.

greg: why the hell did the rams pick up trent green? i know he's just a backup, but he's one hit short of this: :pudie:

If the Phins aren't taking Jake Long or Matt Ryan then they should trade down as far as possible for additional picks.

That pick is worth 3000 points on the DVC. Meaning Dallas would have to give up both of their picks this year as well as next year's 1st to even have a shot at grabbing the top spot. I could see Dallas doing it if they felt DMac was the final piece to the puzzle and there's nothing to say that Jerruh doesn't feel that way.

MAGO

i think Jones will settle for D-Mac's back-up...

Yeah, their OL is in pretty bad shape. I'm pulling for another Wolverine to end up in the Burgundy and Gold. Adrian Arrington. I would love to see us snag him on day 2. The Skins need a big WR in a bad way. I would rather gamble on him with a late pick than take one of the projected 1st rounders like Sweed, Kelly, or Thomas. That would free us up to take Brandon Albert at #21.

like this: :brows2:

We don't need another smurf wideout. We already have Moss and ARE. We need a big target on the other side of Moss so ARE can move back into the slot where he excels. Especially now that we're switching to the WCO. I'd be willing to bet Super Mario goes to the Niners unless the Cowgirls take him. His biggest strength is his route running. Perfect fit for a Martz offense.

Our biggest needs are on the OL/DL and the secondary. After the way we were decimated by injuries last year we need all the depth we can get in those areas. I still don't know how we're going to replace Sean Taylor. Maybe Landry can move to FS permanently. Carlos Rogers had major knee surgery. He probably won't be 100% till sometime in the '09 season. The same goes for Rocky McCintosh but we're pretty deep at LB. By week 3 we were playing an UFA at RT, a career RT at RG and a senior citizen at LG.

So many needs......thankfully we have all of our draft picks this year.

jazz
March 20th, 2008, 05:17 PM
arrington seems to have the better hands of the two, but like you said, super mario's the better route runner.

that being said, i would love to arrington, but we have so many needs ourselves, i doubt we pick up a receiver that early.

(Jake) Long and Gholston are believed to be two of the five prospects the Dolphins have thoroughly investigated in case they don't trade away the top pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, which takes place on April 26-27.

Virginia defensive end Chris Long, Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, and LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey are the other potential candidates to be taken first overall.

"Dallas was a very good fit for him because, like New England, they're a winning team," Drew Rosenhaus told 560-AM (WQAM) Tuesday morning. "They're in his home state, close to his family, and he grew up as a Cowboys fan. But also being a loyal Dolphin, and he'll always be a Dolphin, it would have been very difficult for him [to play for New England]. I'm digging it. We had 3 picks in the 1st 51 slots. We were able to snag the 2 best WR's (1st round talents) at a bargain price. We drafted best player available which happens to fill a gaping need at wideout for us. I like the kid we drafted out of N. Illinois too. He should be able to provide pretty solid depth along our OL. The real head scratcher to me was drafting Colt Brennan. I know we need a QB to groom as a backup behind Campbell and Collins but Brennan is trash. I was kind of hoping Ainge would fall to us in the 6th but you fuckers took him instead. :grrr:

Worst pick of the draft? Tie between Jacksonville (Harvey) and Dallas (Jones).

i thought parcells was going to get a cb and a wr, but apparently he's spending his time building up the trenches which we so desperately needed. we also sent lorenzo booker to the eagles for a 4th rounder (which we had lost in another deal) and picked up two extra rbs to compete for the job...rbs with the size parcells likes.

Jake Long, OT, Michigan, 1
Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson, 2
Chad Henne, QB, Michigan, 2
Kendall Langford, DE, Hampton, 3
Shawn Murphy, OG, Utah State, 4
Jalen Parmele, RB, Toledo, 6
Donald Thomas, OG, Connecticut, 6
Lex Hilliard, RB, Montana, 6

i am so not used to such a productive dolphins front office. wow.

The Ravens took the wrong QB if you ask me. Baltimore fans are pretty PO'd they took Flacco instead of Henne. Henne is more NFL ready than Flacco.

i wanted the dolphins to draft henne from the beginning, so i was happy when i heard the ravens decided to go with flacco instead (and the packers chose brohm).

sure, flacco has a great arm and did pretty well at the combine, but he operated out of the shotgun most of the time, has terrible footwork (which could be corrected through coaching, but still), and he played in 1-AA. it's a hell of a gamble for such a high draft pick. henne was our third overall selection, after long and merling.

and the one that had me really perplexed was when the jags gave up two 3rd rounders, a 4th, and the #26 overall to draft derrick harvey. good player, but was it worth giving up all that? :faint:

I'm digging it. We had 3 picks in the 1st 51 slots. We were able to snag the 2 best WR's (1st round talents) at a bargain price. We drafted best player available which happens to fill a gaping need at wideout for us. I like the kid we drafted out of N. Illinois too. He should be able to provide pretty solid depth along our OL. The real head scratcher to me was drafting Colt Brennan. I know we need a QB to groom as a backup behind Campbell and Collins but Brennan is trash. Colt Brennan just needs a good QB coach. That is all. He can easily become another Jeff Garcia with a little training and maybe even better.

and Felix Jones could become potentially a better running back than McFadden. However, McFadden has the potential versatility of a LT, if the coaches decide to use that ability more often than say Norv Turner.

Indy lands 2012 Super Bowl

May 20, 2008
Recommend (2)

FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

City leaders shook hands, slapped high fives and congratulated each other for winning the bid to host the 2012 Super Bowl. But soon they’ll be rolling up their sleeves to make the projects they dreamed up in the bid a reality.

‘‘Now it’s time to get to work and start organizing this,’’ said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.

NFL owners voted Tuesday to award the game to Indianapolis, picking the city over Houston and Arizona. The city touted its new $700 million retractable-roof Lucas Oil Stadium, scheduled to open in August, and its experience hosting major sporting events such as the Indianapolis 500 and the NCAA Final Four.

The bid also included new projects, such as a proposed $9 million athletic center that would be used as a practice facility for a Super Bowl team before being turned over to Indianapolis Public Schools.

The city wants to create a Super Bowl ‘‘Village’’ downtown — a pedestrian-friendly area complete with fire pits to make ‘‘warm zones.’’

‘‘We can’t wait to get started,’’ said Tamara Zahn, president of Indianapolis Downtown Inc. ‘‘We will show the world what Indianapolis has to offer.’’

The city will spend the next few months organizing volunteer committees to work on the Super Bowl preparations, said Susan Williams, president of the Indiana Sports Corporation.

‘‘This isn’t our first rodeo,’’ she said. ‘‘We have a lot of very experienced volunteers.’’

The Super Bowl is expected to bring a one-time economic boost of more than $300 million, including more than $30 million in state and local tax revenues, according to a study by Ball State University’s Bureau of Business Research.

Bob Schultz, with the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association, said the game will directly help waitresses, cab drivers, hotel housekeepers and others who depend on tourism.

‘‘This is indeed a big day for all of them,’’ he said.

The big game could bring the city prestige as well as cash. Colts owner Jim Irsay said the Super Bowl will leave a sense of pride in Indianapolis and Indiana that can’t be measured.

‘‘It’s big for us and it’s big for every citizen and everyone that’s in our city and state,’’ Irsay said.

One Indiana resident — Gov. Mitch Daniels — was already feeling that pride and excitement Tuesday.

‘‘As a Colts fan, I’m thrilled. As a citizen of Indiana, I’m proud,’’ Daniels said. ‘‘This cements our state’s reputation as a sports and big events capital.’’

'cording to Sporting News, the Jets have the best D-line this season. However, they think they overspent on weak players for the offense.

Cedric Benson is out. Rex Grossman still isn't.

and the 'Boys may be good, but they are a keg of TNT ready to go off with the massive egos and extracurricular activities. Eagles are going to be like last year...especially without a #1 WR.

As soon as his last Michigan game was over, I stopped concerning myself with him. And I was in Florida during the draft, so I wasn't even sober enough to remember where he went. I just saw a bunch of pictures of him in the photoblog on here and looked into why you'd have a picture of Chad Henne... and was shocked to find out that he was actually drafted in the second round. Let alone by a team that needed, I don't know, a talented player.

I've only been there once. And the only reason I went was to see a concert because I didn't buy tickets in time to see them locally...well that and I had never been there and wanted to visit despite hearing all this --"Houston sucks." "Why would you wanna go to Houston?" Blahblahblah... I wanted to experience it for myself. Needless to say I don't plan on ever going back if I can help it. Johnson Space Center was cool. I got a couple sweet coffee mugs and a magnet souvenir for my fridge. But that damn humidity was torture. Gawd that shit sucked. No offense, Raf. This was before DaRafsta entered my world. If it's any consolation to you, Galveston sucks way bigger quail eggs. What a shithole. :shame:

http://www.encircling.us/go.php?url=http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8381934/Favre-out:-Packers-trade-legend-to-Jets

The month-long saga has finally come to an end, with the Packers agreeing to trade their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback to the New York Jets, FOXSports.com has learned.

The exact compensation was not immediately known, but it is believed to be a single draft pick that increases in value depending upon how the Jets perform during the 2008 season.

Brett Favre Photos: There will only ever be one Brett Favre. Take a stroll down memory lane and check out Favre through the years and his greatest moments.

As a result of this, the Jets will likely release a quarterback. Signs have been pointing to Chad Pennington as the likely culprit because the team will need to free up cap room to fit Favre's contract under the salary cap.
too bad MAGO's jets get him the year he's on the cover of madden 09. :phi:

anyways, this will certainly make the jets/pats games a little more interesting.

well, he did draft the guy. i wouldn't be surprised in the least. plus, we've had 4 qbs competing for the starting job. it doesn't hurt to add one more.

we'll have two qbs named chad, btw. :what:

The Big Tuna is amassing the greatest team of all loyal has-beens that he has had the luxury of founding. The puzzle is almost complete. :monty:

jazz
August 9th, 2008, 01:29 PM
i don't think we have as many has-beens as people think. sure, tuna brought over a lot of players from dallas, but that was a pretty good team. we kept the best players from previous dolphin teams and got rid of the deadweight, brought in some good rookies/undrafted players, and have 4 players duking it out for the qb spot (although henne will be holding the clipboard this season).

also, it's only the first year of rebuilding. i'll be pleased if we go 8-8 or 9-7, considering how bad we did last season.

Pun'KinG'
August 9th, 2008, 06:50 PM
Yeah. Those are realistic expectations and a modest record to shoot for considering last year's debacle. I don't know where has-beens came from anyway. Probably just talking out of my :ass: as usual. :who:

(Plaxico) Burress also recalls Saban telling MSU players that, contrary to rumors, he wasn't leaving Michigan State for LSU.

"Then the next day, the very next day, Saban said, 'Guys, I'm going to LSU,'" Burress writes. "So that let me know where he was coming from as a person and how loyal he was. … I didn't trust anything he said at that point. Nothing."
