that's it? pff.

Well, that I can remember from what I've seen/read, in the time I've been watching the game, yes. I felt no obligation to mention the usual fights that occur at rivalry games like Celtic-Rangers, AC Milan-Internazionale, England-Germany, anyone-Galatasaray... and the most nuts soccer rivalry is probably River Plate-Boca Juniors in Argentina. Some crazy fights there.

Hasn't Saturday night been notoriously bad for TV, as far as the number of people watching? I guess the execs think everyone goes out on Saturday nights.

I kind of like the back-to-back schedule, as it's like an NFL regular-season Sunday. As a bonus, it happens that NBC is broadcasting the Bruins/Rangers game 12:30. Total sports Sunday ftw.

i keep forgetting that not everyone is married :smile2:

although i still hate watching television for such long periods of time...even if it is sports-related. they could've at least had one game at 1pm, then the other (preferably the new england game) at 8:30pm.

I don't usually, but when it's sports, I don't seem to mind. I don't watch much else anyway. I do get annoyed about the NFC bias with the execs, their thinking that that is the preferred league or superior league, interest-wise. I suppose that was the case years ago, with the Bears, Giants, Cowgirls and Packers and such, but the AFC has some marquee value now. It's like the AL vs. NL bias.

jazz
January 19th, 2008, 04:35 PM
maybe if it was like a soccer match where the only breaks were before, between periods, and after it ended, i wouldn't mind so much, but american football is just so tedious to watch with all the freaking commercial breaks between play.

i don't seem to have that problem too much with college football though, i will admit.

bleuMadonna
January 19th, 2008, 04:39 PM
Yeah, the commercials are really annoying. I wouldn't mind the breaks in play so much if they didn't cut to a commercial for every one of them. Still, I <3 football so much, so it's the one thing I put up with, commercial-wise. When it all goes to pay TV, I'm going to be in trouble.

Yeah, if that were the case, I'd probably have it. I live in an area where rabbit ears still work. I imagine if I didn't, I'd have to get the most basic package just for reception's sake. MojoFearsSatan

Ca depende. We have Kevin Cadle, who's presented NFL on Sky since ever for the Sunday night stuff on satellite, who has a panel often made up of injured or less big-name NFL players; we've had people like Dhani Jones in there. NFL on 5 (Monday Night Football) is a total comedy clusterfuck though - you have Mike Carlson, NFL.com's european delegate basically, who did all the reporting and shit on NFL Europe, and Colin Murray, who's this little Irish guy who presents radio shows and shit and loves the sport but knows jack shit about it and he always highlights things like cheerleaders getting hit by the ball and mascots fighting and stuff like that.

jazz

well, if it's any indication, i played the packers with the giants and beat them handily, 21-7. it should have been 31-7, but poor clock management towards the end of the second half fucked me up on a td, and since i set the wind to the highest setting (along with the cold temps), it messed up my only field goal attempt.

too bad i don't hate any of the nfc teams playing this year. :hrmph:

and it can further my "05 Steelers = 07 Giants" links:

Injuries to top running backs leads to no-name coming in and doing awesome job at start of season (Ward)
Lock hall-of-famer retiring (Strahan)
Talented but often dubious QB playing well in playoffs (Manning)
Heavy back coming back from injury (Jacobs)
That's actually about it, but I just do it to wind up my Giants-supporting friend to get his hopes up before they get squashed like Miami.

Johnson admits that if he does decide to play again he'd be receptive to playing for a Parcells-led team because of the familiarity it provides. He has spent three years collectively (two with the Jets and one in Carolina) playing in an offense run by Dan Henning, the Dolphins' new offensive coordinator. He previously claimed Henning is the best play-caller he has ever worked under.

And Johnson said he'd be receptive to mentoring Ted Ginn Jr. and Derek Hagan, the Dolphins' two young receivers.

well, yeah, but i seriously doubt he would've signed with the jets anyway. lol

Zach Thomas is past his prime..he pretty much is only good for about 8-9 games..

Still nothing out of the Skins aside from resigning Collins and Suisham. I'm not used to this kind of restraint. I would like to see us take a look at Bryant Johnson and I wouldn't have minded dealing for Robertson from our minor league affiliate (Jets).

We need a big WR and Johnson could fit that role nicely for a decent price. Robertson would do well in our defense and we could definitely use a penetrating DT now that injuries appear to be catching up with Griffin. A couple of moves like that would have freed us up to draft some young DL/OL and possibly a CB.

speaking of hadnot, he left houston yesterday without a contract offer. that says a lot.

i keep hearing rumors that dallas wants to trade us their two early draft picks for our #1 to take mcfadden. apparently arkansas is jerry jones' alma mater and he has a raging hard on for dmac.

OR

atlanta is desperately in need for a qb. the rumor was that they would send us deangelo hall and their first pick in the draft (3rd overall).

idk, i want the dolphins to go with jake long and solidify the lg position for 10+ with that monster. i think if we trade down with the falcons, st. louis will take jake with the second pick.

dallas was scouting dmac LONG before the draft. depending on how jerry jones likes to spend, he might do it. and atlanta always needs a qb, now that vick is in the dogg pound.

i wouldn't trade the pick and just draft a cb. hall seems like a locker room cancer.

Atlanta would be very stupid to give all of that up just to move up two spots...

jazz
March 7th, 2008, 12:34 PM
well, atlanta is stupid.

and if they fear miami taking ryan (which they won't, but you never know), that's the only way to do it.

MAGO
March 7th, 2008, 12:48 PM
i think they fear another team trading up to get him, they know Miami has no interest in him, they(Miami) have too many holes to fill before they make a QB the #1 pick which will require close to 30 million in guarantees...

jazz
March 7th, 2008, 01:01 PM
it's obvious that atlanta doesn't think miami or st. louis aren't interested in ryan since they haven't offered anything (as far as i know), but parcells is hinting at it through the media, saying that mccown will be competing for a job and we still need a #3 qb. hey, whatever works.

Dallas would be stupid to do this. They are getting very old along the OL and they would have to give up more than their 2 1st round picks to swap with Miami.

well, it is a jerry jones-led team. :ha:

aaaanyways, parcells said that he wouldn't announce a move for the pick until a couple of days before the draft or right when it starts. personally, i think we should keep the pick after the hell we went through this past season, but we do need the extra picks.

greg: why the hell did the rams pick up trent green? i know he's just a backup, but he's one hit short of this: :pudie:

and the eagles really do need to sell sheppard for a AAA wideout.

since i read they lost julius jones, mcfadden would be an appropriate choice, granted dmac quite possibly won't have the luxury of a "rookie" season.
