bout time they do something smart! :captslap:
i'm amazed myself. :faint:

Miami should trade everyone except Jason Taylor and Ronnie Brown for draft picks and OL... then start over...
i don't know about keeping taylor. he's an incredible player and everything, but again, he'll be enrolled in AARP by the time we get the defense back on track.

well....the Dolphins consider this season a wrap. :hrmph:
stick a fork in us, we're done for the year.

The Colts and the New England Patriots (7-0) remain the only undefeated teams in the NFL.

i don't know, that's a tough one to call...i mean, the job of the offense is to put up points and these are all professional football players, but one thing is ensuring a win and another thing is going for it on 4th down twice, and airing it out (like :bleu: said) and padding your stats once you have a more than solid lead in a game. if i were the pats, i wouldn't risk having tom brady or moss out there.

in last week's game versus the dolphins, i actually wanted the pats to kick our ass...it's the only way our lethargic owner wayne huzienga will snap out of his coma and make some major changes next season.

on a side note: as horrible as the dolphins are this season, we've put up the most points against the pats this year. :what: hey, when you're 0-8, you look for any, and i mean ANY, positives you could find. :ohyou:

They are going to do it to the wrong coach and someone is going to pull a John Cheney on the Pats and bring in the henchmen to take some shots at Brady's knees. I have the utmost respect for the Pats and what they are capable of doing but at some point you have to say "enough is enough". They are telling the entire NFL to go fuck themselves because people had the nerve to question the legitimacy of their Super Bowl wins because they got caught cheating. They got caught abusing the system and they feel slighted. It's arrogance like I've never seen in the NFL which is a shame because Belichick is a decent guy outside of the confines of the game. Being a local guy I've had the chance to meet him a few times and he's always been pretty humble........shocking, huh? But to continuously rub everyone's nose in piss is bad for the game.

Yeah, this is my concern as well, and Brady's going to end up paying the price because his coach is being a jerk right now. I think they've proven through the first 8 games that they have the talent to win. I agree with :jazz: that it is the offense's job to put up points, as this is the NFL, not Pop Warner or anything. But still, there was no way they were going to lose that game to the Skins and I was just afraid Brady was going to get hurt.

Security Guard Claims Colts Enhance Crowd Noise (http://www.encircling.us/go.php?url=http://wbztv.com/local/local_story_310083445.html)

A day after some unusual sounds were heard during the Colts-Patriots broadcast Sunday, the NFL issued a statement saying what sounded like simulated crowd noise at the RCA Dome was actually created by the CBS production crew, not the Colts.

But WBZ Photojournalist Bryan Foley says an unidentified RCA Dome security guard told him Sunday that the Colts do enhance the crowd noise.

here's how this season for the lolphins has gone for me:

concern -> frustration -> anger -> embarassment -> laughter (at this point)

Defensive ends Taylor, Roth leave the game with injuries (http://www.encircling.us/go.php?url=http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-flspdolnote12nbnov12,0,4256785.story)

As if the injury-riddled Dolphins could afford to lose another starter, the defense played the majority of the second half of Sunday's 13-10 loss to Buffalo without its two starting defensive ends.

Jason Taylor missed all but a few snaps of the fourth quarter because of an injured left ankle, and fellow end Matt Roth strained his groin early in the third and didn't return.

The defense is already playing without three starters: middle linebacker Zach Thomas (migraines) and safeties Yeremiah Bell (Achilles' tendon) and Renaldo Hill (knee).

On offense, quarterback Trent Green and running back Ronnie Brown are out for the season.

The Pats are going to continue to "run up" the score and defend their actions by saying Belichick tells them to "score every time they get the ball, they're not out there to go three and out"..blah...blah...blah.. because they know no one can do anything about it. Displaying these attributes that they have and ramming shit down all the other teams' throats is not suicide and most surely is not going to come back to haunt them.
And it's unfortunate that the Colts sustained those key injuries because I felt they were the only ones capable of defeating them.

Redskins' Sean Taylor shot at Miami-Dade home (http://www3.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/MI68880/)

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Sources say Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor is in extremely critical condition after someone shot him at his home early this morning.

Before dawn Monday, Taylor, a former University of Miami football player, was shot in the leg, but the bullet struck the femoral artery, and he has lost a lot of blood.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting haven't been released, but, the Redskins released a statement that said the 24-year-old Taylor was in surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital and that Miami-Dade Police have begun an investigation.

The Washington safety missed his second straight game with a sprained right knee.

The shooting occurred at his home on Old Cutler Road in the southern part of Miami-Dade County.

Taylor is no stranger to trouble as he was involved in an incident when he was charged with assault and simple battery in July of 2005.

NFL's Sean Taylor dead (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/27/obit.taylor.ap/index.html)

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died, a day after he was shot in the leg, said family friend Richard Sharpstein.

Sean Taylor never regained consciousness after being taken to a hospital, says a family friend.

He said Taylor's father called him around 5:30 a.m. to tell him the news.

"His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans."

He said he did not know exactly when Taylor died.

Doctors had been encouraged late Monday night when Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand. But Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital and that he wasn't sure how he had squeezed the nurse's hand.

"Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said.

The 24-year-old Redskins safety was shot early Monday in his home in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing significant blood loss.

Miami-Dade Police were investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home. Officers were dispatched about 1:45 a.m. Monday after Taylor's girlfriend called 911. Taylor was airlifted to the hospital.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house at the time, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured.

"It could have been a possible burglary; it could have been a possible robbery," Miami-Dade Police Lt. Nancy Perez said. "It has not been confirmed as yet."

Taylor was shot at the pale yellow house he bought two years ago in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay. Taylor played at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003, and was also a high school standout in the city. His father, Pedro Taylor, is the police chief of Florida City.

Taylor starred as a running back and defensive back at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami.

Teammates and coaches often have portrayed Taylor as misunderstood, and that much was true. A private man with a small inner circle, Taylor became distrustful of reporters and anyone else he didn't know well. He rarely granted interviews, sometimes declining with a smile and a handshake and sometimes with a snarl that said: "Get out of my way."

But, behind the scenes, Taylor was described as personable and smart -- an emerging locker room leader.

Especially since the birth of his daughter Jackie.

"From the first day I met him, from then to now, it's just like night and day," Redskins receiver James Thrash said. "He's really got his head on his shoulders and has been doing really well as far as just being a man. It's been awesome to see that growth."

An All-American at the University of Miami, Taylor was drafted by the Redskins with the fifth overall selection in 2004. Coach Joe Gibbs called it "one of the most researched things" he's ever done, but the problems soon began. Taylor fired his agent, then skipped part of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium, drawing a $25,000 fine. Driving home late from a party during the season, he was pulled over and charged with drunken driving. The case was dismissed in court, but by then it had become a months-long distraction for the team.

Taylor was also fined at least seven times for late hits, uniform violations and other infractions over his first three seasons, including a $17,000 penalty for spitting in the face of Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman during a playoff game in January 2006.

Meanwhile, Taylor endured a yearlong legal battle after he was accused in 2005 of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight over allegedly stolen all-terrain vehicles near Taylor's home. He eventually pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months' probation.

Taylor said the end of the assault case was like "a gray cloud" being lifted. It was also around the time that Jackie was born, and teammates noticed a change.

"It's hard to expect a man to grow up overnight," said Redskins teammate and close friend Clinton Portis, who also played with Taylor at the University of Miami. "But ever since he had his child, it was like a new Sean, and everybody around here knew it. He was always smiling, always happy, always talking about his child."

On the field, Taylor's play was often erratic. Assistant coach Gregg Williams frequently called Taylor the best athlete he's ever coached, but nearly every big play was mitigated by a blown assignment. Taylor led the NFL in missed tackles in 2006 yet made the Pro Bowl because of his reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the league.

This year, however, Taylor was allowed to play a true free safety position, using his speed and power to chase down passes and crush would-be receivers. His five interceptions tie for the league lead in the NFC, even though he missed the last two games because of a sprained knee. Teammates said he had overhauled his diet this year to include more fruit, fish and vegetables and less red meat.

"I just take this job very seriously," Taylor said in a rare group interview during training camp. "It's almost like, you play a kid's game for a king's ransom. And if you don't take it serious enough, eventually one day you're going to say, 'Oh, I could have done this, I could have done that.'

"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."

His hard work was well-noted.

"He loved football. He felt like that's what he was made to do," Gibbs said. "And I think what I've noticed over the last year and a half ... is he matured. I think his baby had a huge impact on him. There was a real growing up in his life."

It's a very sad day in Redskins Nation. Despite the image the media loved to paint of him he was arguably the most popular player on the team amongst fans. He was loved like a brother by his team mates and like a son by the coaches. This is eerily reminiscent of the death of Len Bias and I wonder if it takes the community as long to recover. Despite his troubled past he died the most noble way possible.......defending the lives of his family.

let me tell you...i'm watching the dolphins/jets game right now, and i swear to fucking christ, i have never seen a more pathetic team than the miami dolphins. i don't know if it's the injuries, the lack of depth, the coaching, bad luck, prancing ponies, but this team couldn't get nailed in a wood shop. wow.

and this is against the jets, mind you. :shame:

:suicide3:

p.s. speaking of the jetsth, i think i like their classic :quote:new york titans:quote: look better than their green/white uniforms. even if they look like a cfb team.

Dolphins' Worrell out for season with torn ACL (http://www.encircling.us/go.php?url=http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-worrell120307,0,783297.story)

The Dolphins have lost their fourth safety to a season-ending injury.

Worrell will undergo reconstructive surgery later this week. He'll join safeties Yeremiah Bell, who tore his Achilles' tendon in the season-opening loss to Washington; Travares Tillman, who had season-ending knee surgery in October; and Renaldo Hill, who tore an ACL against the Patriots on Oct. 21, on the injured list.

the Phins are so F!-ing gay!!!!!!!!!!....i went to the game on Sunday and wow!!!...they have this gay song they play after every score, i felt like i was stuck in an episode of the Partridge Family....they also have this thing where the PA announcer yells "And that's another Miami" and the crowd yells "first down!"...lol..that a-hole also had trouble saying Kellen Clemens name, he called him Kellen Williams, Kelvin Clemens and Kellen Clement....i thought their uni's were the only gay thing they had going, but now i can safely confirm it's everything associated with the organization... ...

So the closer the Patriots get to being undefeated the more apt referees are going to be to issue calls in their favor? Just like an umpire in baseball feels inclined to increase the size of a strike zone during progressive innings of a perfect game? Not saying that there were all that many tremendously bad calls. I guess it's just the opponents having the Patriots in their sights and then turning the guns around and biting the obligatory "bullet".
I mean Eagles? Ravens? What?! The!? Fuck!?

bleuMadonna
December 4th, 2007, 01:49 PM
Well, maybe it's payback for the game against the Colts where they had several ludicrous calls against the Pats, my favorite being against Hobbs, who was facing the ball in the end zone and was being tackled from behind and yet Hobbs was called for pass interference. Still, that holding call near the end last night was marginal at best.

ehhh....it was holding any which way you slice it. He clearly held him. Sure....more times than not, that calls not made but regardless.....it was holding and was called. Ravens had that game in the bag. That dumb ass on the sidelines lost it for them. The Ravens had stopped them on fourth down, only to be negated by that scum bag that called the time out.

You want to talk about what had an impact on the game's outcome....chalk it up to that bonehead move...not the refs calls on the field.

There were actually 2 defensive holding calls that could have been made on that same play. Watson was being held at the 4 yard line. Scott (I think) had his arm around him when Watson made his cut across the middle of the field.

that :quote:gay song:quote: you speak of was formerly the houston oilers song and i've always hated it. i can't believe they still play that shit.

i haven't been to a game in like two or three seasons, so i don't know about the announcer shit (sounds lame and family friendly), but the team is 0-12...did you really expect the ambiance of the place to be as electric as it would have been if the phins were winning games? there are so many new york transplants living here, they wind up buying all the tickets dolphin fans don't want to waste their time with and from what i've heard, they're pretty obnoxious.

as far as the jerseys, i don't particularly like the aqua top for the phins, i preferred if they used their dark blue highlight color as their primary and the aqua as the highlight, but our logo and white-on-white jerseys are much nicer than the jets, dude. any day.

oh yeah, and :magodio2: and :badmago:

that was one of the dumbest time outs in the history of time outs. they had them stopped on fourth down with seconds on the clock left. :shame:
