probably because none of it has to do with any comparisons to Young, Young isn't even mentioned, so no comparison could have been made.
Sorry but when people talk about the all-time greats Young is an after thought. And it's because of his supporting cast. He had Hall of Fame talent all around him. That's why it is silly to compare the two. The real comparison should be Montana and Brady.

Absolutely not. But the Montana era Niners didn't have the beasts in the trenches on both sides of the ball that Young had. The Niners were more complete teams on both sides of the ball when Young took over.
Edit: Montana also played in a much more competitive NFC than Young did. The NFC was on the decline by the time Young took over. Competition within the NFC in the 80's and 90's was much more fierce than it was in the mid-late 90's.

Personally, I have a bias for the 80's - early 90's because I actually went to alot of those games. And I've never been to a game that could replicate that kind of atmosphere since. I'll never forget the NFCCG at RFK in 91/92. Prior to the game they handed out yellow seat cushions as a promo. As the final seconds were ticking off the clock during their 41-10 win over the Lions everyone started tossing their cushions onto the field. 58,000 of them flying onto the field. Awe inspiring. Even the regular season was intense. Conference games throughout the regular season were wars. It gets no better than the Bears, Niners, Skins, and Giants battling it out from '82-'92. Once Free Agency started the league lost a lot of its intensity with players moving from team to team. The rivalries started to deteriorate and the league has suffered for it ever since.

What we know:
- Carr gets sacked on Avg 58 times a year.
- He doesn't have a proven rb so teams aren't forced to stop the run and they can play zone and wait for the qb to make a mistake.
- Most teams rush 4 or 5 and get to Carr

I didn't read about McNabb's sensitivity regarding Garcia. I think the Iggles should've retained Garcia longer and used him as Kansas City does Damon Huard to back up Trent Green. I don't think AJ Feeley has the leadership capability to be a franchise QB for the Iggles, like Vince Young does.

His supposed sensitivity hasn't been spelled out per se, but there has been supposition about it ever since his mom said all that stuff on the blog about the Birds' success with Garcia. And the Eagles have coddled McNabb from the get-go. His confidence waffling has been well-documented, too, and he just doesn't seem to lead the way Garcia does. He's not as demonstrative as Garcia. I agree with you about Feeley. That was lightning in a bottle in 2002 when McNabb and Detmer went down. I doubt he will repeat that, given that he didn't do well with the other teams he was on.

LOLphins Update --
If Green's available, will Dolphins bite? (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-spdolphins28feb28,0,7151925.story?coll=sfla-dolphins-front)
INDIANAPOLIS · As the Dolphins prepare to part ways with Joey Harrington, another veteran quarterback may be emerging on the team's radar.
The Dolphins would have interest in acquiring Kansas City's Trent Green if placed on the trading block by the Chiefs, a source said at the NFL Scouting Combine.
LocalLinks
As of Tuesday, there were no indications Green is currently being dangled as trade bait by Kansas City. But should the Chiefs decide to head in a different direction at quarterback, the source said the Dolphins would entertain the possibility of trying to swing a deal.
The odds of such a scenario unfolding increased Tuesday with Kansas City re-signing quarterback Damon Huard to a three-year contract that Fox Sports reported is worth $7.5 million.
A Dolphins backup from 1997 to 2000, Huard posted a 5-3 record as a starter in 2006 while Green was sidelined with a serious concussion suffered in the season-opener against Cincinnati. When he returned to the starting lineup, Green struggled while playing in a new offense under first-year coach Herman Edwards.
Although he became one of the AFC's top quarterbacks after his arrival in Kansas City in 2001, two other factors that may prompt the Chiefs to consider moving Green are his age -- the 13-year veteran turns 37 in July -- and contract. The Kansas City Star reported Tuesday that the Chiefs are expected to ask Green to take a pay cut from his current 2007 base salary of $7.2 million.
Green would be an intriguing fit for the Dolphins, which enter the offseason with uncertainty at the quarterback position. Green played under new Dolphins coach Cam Cameron when both were with Washington from 1995 to 1998 and is familiar with his offensive system. Quarterbacks coach Terry Shea also held that same position with the Chiefs while working with Green for four of the past five seasons.
As for Harrington, a source said he will be released later this week unless the Dolphins can trade him. That would leave Daunte Culpepper and Cleo Lemon as the team's top quarterbacks.
James still recuperating
Guard Jeno James is still rehabilitating his right knee after undergoing a second in-season surgery in December. Agent Drew Pittman said the second operation was more extensive than the first but that James is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2007 season.
Still, the Dolphins are expected to pursue other guards in the free-agent signing period that begins Friday. The Dolphins already have told former starting guards Seth McKinney and Bennie Anderson that their release is imminent. The Dolphins will clear significant salary cap space by releasing McKinney ($4 million cap figure in 2007) and Anderson ($2.1 million).
Barnes' stock rises
Florida International's Antwan Barnes was the second-fastest linebacker at the Combine in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.45 seconds. John Murphy of Next Level Scouting projects Barnes, a converted defensive end, to be selected in the third or fourth round of April's draft. That would make Barnes the highest FIU pick in school history.
***
Personally, :jazz:, I don't think Trent Green would do any better than Cleo Lemon or Daunte Culpepper.
On the plus side, the Chicaggo Bearz gave Lovie Smith a raise finally.

Trent Green is going to be the starter this coming season for the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether he'll stay as the starter for the entire stretch of the season is a different matter on it's own. Currently, he's starting and Huard was given a contract extension as issurance and IMO, it's a luxury to have a guy like Huard as a back up.

Crotchery signs contract extension with Jets (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10031094)
NEW YORK -- Jerricho Crotchery, who had a breakout year with the New York Jets last season, signed a contract extension with the team on Thursday.
Crotchery set career highs with 82 catches, 961 yards receiving and six touchdowns while starting every game for the Jets last season.
In his third year out of North Carolina State, Crotchery combined with Laveranues Coles to form the most productive receiving tandem in team history. The duo combined for 173 catches and 12 touchdowns.
"Jerricho Crotchery is the type of player we are looking for here," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement. "He earned a starting role this year and showed the productivity and consistency we want at that position."
Terms of the extension were not released by the Jets. The 24-year-old Crotchery would've been eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
Crotchery had 25 receptions in his first two seasons, playing mostly on special teams -- including returning a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown in the 2004 regular-season finale at St. Louis. He impressed new head coach Eric Mangini and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer in training camp last summer, and won the job as the team's No. 2 receiver behind Coles.
Crotchery was involved in the two longest plays from scrimmage of the Jets' season -- both against New England. He had a 71-yard touchdown catch-and-run in Week 2, and had a 77-yard touchdown catch in the playoff loss against the Patriots.
"Jerricho Crotchery exemplifies everything we are looking for in our players," coach Eric Mangini said in a statement. "He is smart, tough, hardworking, selfless, competitive and football is important to him. During training camp, he took advantage of the opportunity to compete and became not only a starter but a key contributor to what the team was able to accomplish in 2006. I am pleased that Jerricho will remain with the Jets for years to come."
The Jets also officially announced that they released running back Derrick Blaylock and defensive lineman Bobby Hamilton.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with our signings last year. I never wanted Archuletta. Granted I think he can be valuable if used in the proper manner. We weren't able to do that with the loss of Pierson Prieoulau on the opening kickoff of the season. AA was going to be more of a "in the box" presence while PP would have been used in coverage.
We got exactly what I expected in ARE.
Lloyd still has potential to produce for us. Keep in mind we had a washed up QB playing without our #1 offensive threat (Portis) while learning a new offense for most of the season. With Campbell as the starter, and a healthy Portis I think you'll see a bigger season out of Lloyd this year.
Carter struggled early on like most people assumed. It's not easy making the transition from an OLB in a 3-4 Defense to a DE in a 4-3 defense. Especially in one as complex as Gregg Williams'. But he came on very strong after midseason once he became more comfortable with what was being asked of him.
Most of our struggles last year can be attributed to injuries and lack of depth, or learning a new system. We couldn't play the kind of defense we wanted to because we weren't healthy in the secondary. Gregg Williams defense requires that your corners are capable of being left on an island in coverage. We weren't able to do that with all of the injuries we had. With a healthy secondary and a healthy Portis coupled with a year of experience in the new system and I think we'll be fine next season. What we really need is to get younger on the DL. Namely at DT. We need a big, fat, ugly, run stuffing 2 gap DT like Alan Branch. Our other biggest need would be at MLB. It looks like that spot is either going to be filled by Vilma or Fletcher. I'd prefer Vilma in a trade for Betts but more realistically it will end up being Fletcher.
Overall, I think you'll see a pretty quiet FA out of Redskins Park.

Cash creates cap. Every owner in the NFL is capable of doing this. Snyder is one of the only one's willing to do it. That's how we're able to circumvent the salary cap year after year after year after........
Every year the pundits say we'll be in cap hell. They have been saying it for 6 years now. It hasn't happened. Snyder can afford to throw around guaranteed bonuses up front with back loaded contracts and he's perfectly willing to do so.
