My last card was the 9800 Pro 128. I think it's a very solid card. I loved it.

If you're in the $150 area, get the Nvidia 6600gt 128 (made in both agp and pic-e forms) over the Radeon 9800 128. I used to have the 9800 but made the move to the 6600gt and the nvidia performs much better. You can find them for around $150 on newegg.

edit: i have no idea what those would be in canadian dollars, but it won't go over $300 for sure.

I ended up with a geforce MX4000-V128 which was recommended by my system manufacturer. I can't use the nbig biys as they get to hot or draw too much current for my baby (It's an aopen xcube av)

last card i got was a 9700 PRO.. was a while ago. Been happy with it. I don't know about the MX4000, but the MX400's suck.

i was an impulse buyer and bought the ATi 9550 256mb card for $140... so far so good. Im running an old celeron 2.0g (overclocked to 2.7... seems stable) with 1.5gb of memory and a new harddrive with an 8mb cache. I can run Doom 3 at the second from the top setting and see very minimal lag

the 9550 can b easily unlocked to run @ a 9600 pro...... the 9550 is the same card i got....... but now my system reads it as a 9600......... it is a little noticable in a benchmark test.............
