Other than the obvious PhotoShop, which is rather expensive, what other image editing software can you all recommend?

I use the 8.5 version of this until I upgrade. I think it's great.

I wouldnt expect you to contribute any actual information, dion. Thanks for nothing, as usual.
Anyway, here's the homepage for that other software I was looking at:

To be honest, it looks kind of weak. You will probably find that you will rarely use the features they discuss. Unless you are into making greeting cards.

i had to get photoshop, but i doubt you'd need everything in it.
Photoshop Elements may work for you as well ... it's only like $90.00:shrug:

Yeah, I was considering Elements as well. But im feeling like a cheapskate and not sure if I even want to spend the $100. :byrche:

I've heard good things about Gimp. It's supposed to have a lot of the same stuff although I think you need to download a few as add-ons. It's open source as well and theres one called GimpShop which is Gimp made to look like Photoshop. Although I think it might be for mac.

Well, my brother managed to "borrow" a Photoshop CD from his job, and he came over and we installed it on my computer. Seems pretty hard to use so far, but i'll keep experimenting.

gimp is prob the best you are going to get for cheap, other than stealing photoshop, which i did. all of my open source homies say that it can do anything that photoshop can do. i always doubt them, but it is good for free software
