I read somewhere that it inhibits the receptors in the brain that tell you when you're full. Companies use it because it's cheaper to transport and it keeps the corn growers happy. I even found it in a jar of dill pickles. Why on earth would you need any sugar in sour pickles? I had to scour to find a jar that didn't have it.

I've never tried Papa Johns, but generally, the chain places bite. You're right about the tastelessness. Their sauces are nearly flavorless and they seem not to have a clue about herbs and spices. New Haven, Conn., had some of the best pizza ever. Even the mom and pop places were halfway decent.

Today, I went to Reading Terminal Market and bought a turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce. They use real turkey off the bone and outstanding bread. I chose wheat. Awesome sandwich.

Just wondering....anyone here tried Buffalo Wild Wings? Their wings are the best in the greater Houston area....bar none. I don't know how they stack up to the others in the nation or better yet to the city of Buffalo's actual wings and all but of all the crappy wings places here in Houston, Buffalo Wild Wings' are so f'en delicious, juicy, and wholesome and fulfilling. No...I don't work for them either. I am only a client.

I'm wingless now (I went vegan -- well almost-- about a week or so ago), but I liked Outback's spicy wings. They were hot and they had a cumin flavor to them. Very tasty and nice and crunchy. I never liked wings if they were squishy on the outside.

Just got back from eating lunch at a little thai place near Brentford ...chicken, vegetables and noodles with chilli sauce (yes it was nice too)

Ok so tonight I tried this, as us singular bachelors have limited resources these days...
Take four medium sized potato`s, two mushrooms, two tomato`s one chilli, walnuts, one piece of wholemeal bread half a clove of garlic and a quarter of an onion...

Peel and thinly slice the potato`s and place in a olive oil, season with lemon grass, black pepper, salt and grate in a couple of walnuts on a high heat, fry for a couple of minutes add the garlic, onion, chilli and tomatoes and cook until the onions are sautéed and the potato is browning, then make room in the pan for the bread which you fry in the remaining olive oil until golden brown and crispy.
Serve the potatoes on top of the bread and pour on some Guava sauce and ...
