How's the quality (audio/video)?

- So far so good. It has a 7 inch (16:9) widescreen display which is nice...Technically, this little guy can be considered my first widescreen :what::lol:...

- The audio through its speakers is not bad, but it's a lot better through headphones...and their Dolby Digital ...so overall not bad for $130.

Uhhh.....dunno, but it doesn't bother me since the ratio for widescreen flickaroos is the same as it is when I play DVDs on my computer.

Yeah, quite a lot actually. I got mine for the same reason, so that I don't have to subject myself to bad in-flight movies  and so I can watch a DVD in bed. :P What's really cool is that I can plug in my 5.1 compatible Sony Sava speakers and REALLY blast the neighbors.

I'm planning on getting a new phone... probably this:

http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,69498,00.html

I can get it for about $520 (AUD) brand new with 12 month warranty, and a free expansion to 64mb MMC from a seller with over 11, 000 positive reviews on eBay.com.au.

Any recommendations of other good phones?

What particular features are you after?

Person

This one seems to have a lot (if not all) the ones I want. Camera, Bluetooth, Java applications, nice screen, good multimedia capabilities (ie: sound/video recording), fair storage space. There are a few other things like voice activation/etc, but those aren't really necessary, just a nice extra.

This phone can take still images at 1280x1024 pixels, which is nice.

I have various start times depending on where I work. Mostly, I'm in the same place, but in summer, they raid our copy desk and farm us out to other desks, which have different start times. I hate it because it fucks with my life, and summer is our only real down time, but I never get down time because I have to haul ass on some other desk. Alas...Tomorrow is a regular start time, so I'll have more time to get to the store

well, the next morning i contacted dell and asked them to change it for me. they were pretty nice about it and the csr told me she'd update the information. well, what happened today? i was supposed to have it in my hands today, only they hadn't changed the shipping information. ups passed by my house and of course i wasn't there since i was at work.

Hmmm, I've never tried doing a whole folder. Most of my stuff was from CDs anyway. In the beginning, when you install the software, it finds mp3s and what-not on your hard drive and puts them in your library. I don't recall the folders and subfolders holding, though, so I think it just throws them all into one folder. There is probably a way to do it, but I'm not sure. Bootlegs end up all mixed up because most of them don't have track titles. I upload those separately now and manually type in the track titles and album title and all. Also, be sure to pick "manual" for file transfers and importing stuff. Otherwise, if you delete anything from your library it will disappear from your iPod when you plug it into the machine. It automatically updates to whatever is added or removed from your library unless you select manual, which you can do during the setup.

hmm, all my files are named since windows media player provided all the info as it was encoding all my albums, so that shouldn't be a problem. and btw, i don't want to have all my albums under that one 'album' folder, i want it to keep the hierarchy it now has on my pc (the metallica example).

Yes, you can. I have the older version (iTunes 2.0.4, I think) right now on my Mac. So it's not compatible with your version, but I think you can download whole folders onto the iPod, given you have enough space available.

You can download the PC version right now from the Apple home, I think. I frankly like it over the stock PC versions, at least those that I toyed around with.

see? you do get free shit if you complain (courteously, of course). this is what i wrote to dell when i got in to work this morning:

Good morning. Let me start off by saying that I was very pleased with the
support I received as it was speedy and courteous, however, yesterday when I
arrived home from work, I noticed that UPS had passed by my house to deliver
the laptop even after I had asked Dell to change the Ship-to address. I had
to go to the UPS site myself last night and edit the shipping address
through them.

Unfortunately, this is the one thing that left me pretty disappointed with
Dell as I could have had the laptop in my hands yesterday.

Sincerely,

Daniel P. Borbolla

i checked my email from work just now and i got a response from dell...this is what they said:

Dear Mr. Borbolla:

I understand that you had to contact UPS to change the address. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

In view of the difficulties you have encountered with this issue, I am offering you a Kodak EasyShare C300 Digital Camera free of cost. Please reply to this message if you wish to avail this offer.

Thank you for choosing Dell.

btw, i got my ipod yesterday and i love it, it's beeyootifull.

however, i hate how i have to upload one album at a time to the itunes program. gay.
Did you try "add folder to library" and click the folder/drive where all your music is stored? That's all I did and it worked fine, and whenever I add a new album to my "library" folder, I just repear the process and it finds the new stuff and adds it.

I'm getting a digital camera...the Panasonic Lumix...fairly soon...in a couple of weeks...so I can tape bits and pieces of my sparring matches and for regular photos. I'll begin posting them up somewheres -- that is, regular photos.

iha, let me know how that works for you...i read horrible reviews of that thing on the apple site when i was purchasing the ipod.

I read reviews of different FM Transmitters on ipodlounge.com and according to them no others compair to the iTrip. I had a Belkin one, but took it back because it was pretty shitty. I really hated how it was connected to the ipod with just a chord, so you couldn't carry it around unless you carried both parts. The iTrip is nice because it just sits at the top, and it's much smaller. I'm hopeing it transmits a better signal too. I'll let you know..

.. did you get a colored ipod?

jazz

fuck - my iTrip just got here today, and it's in shitty ass condition. The guy didn't put anything in the description about it. But it has scratches all over it, it was covered with some sticky dirt type shit (i've wiped it off now), and the "iTrip" that's supposed to be on there has worn off. FUCK!

iha

eBay. I left the guy "neutural" feedback. My mom said I should have left him Neg. Now that I think about it I should have.

iha
July 28th, 2005, 10:27 PM
Here is what I told the guy:
"I recieved the iTrip today. I left feedback as well. However, I am unhapy with the condition of the iTrip. You should have noted in the description that it was worn, scratched, and dirty. It doesn't even say iTrip on it anymore. I would NOT have paid this price for something in this bad of condition. I left you Neutural feedback. Sorry."

he responded
"next time buy a new one"

That's fucked up. Just because he isn't honest doesn't mean other people aren't. This is the first bad experience I've had on ebay.

here's what I responded to him:
"Or atleast make sure not to buy from you. I could have got a new one for $6.00 more than what I paid for this one, and if I knew the condition of this one I deffinetly would (or bought from someone else off ebay, because I'm sure most people are honest about the condition of their item - atleast that has been my experience). This is the ONLY time I've left something besides positive feedback for someone. Most people would have left negative.."

iha, did you contact the ebay honchos or no? I know they take some time to respond, but talk with them via email or something. Maybe you may be able to return the item and get a refund, with some luck.

jazz, I think it's in the Settings. I think you can decide the "Pause" between songs, if I'm not mistaken. I don't have iTunes at work...so I can't confirm.
