I reformatted my hard drive a couple of months ago because I had some pretty bad viruses on it.
Almost immediately after doing so, I started to have a strange problem. First of all, I have some annoying spyware that WILL NOT go away. I've tried ad-aware, I do disk clean-up all the time, and I erase my cache about four times a week. It usually only comes up when I'm logged into messenger. It shows little grey caution screens that say things like "WARNING! Your computer could become infected with a virus...go to www.insert-ginnicky-website-here.com to fix it." I would guess it's in my registry or something now. Anyone know how to fix that?
The weird problem, though, is that my sound will randomly stop working. Every few weeks, it just stops working, and I do a system restore, and everything is normal again until the next time it happens. I have AVG anti-virus, and I run Housecall on my computer a lot, and nothing comes up through either of those.
Any thoughts?
P.S...giving your advice in the form of "Computer Help for Dummies"-type speak would be most helpful, as my knowledge of computers is basic.
