A little help with my zero-bullshit policy this year, the guys are playing a lot better than last year. We just picked up a new player Sunday that hasn't played in any real games, barely knows the rules but threw a frozen rope from center to home with ease....he also catches just about everything thrown in his general direction. I almost feel bad for the rest of the league.
Game 1 - Win 18-5
Game 2 - Win 23-13
Game 3 - Win 15 -8
Game 4 - Win 26 -5
Game 5 - Loss 14 - 11
Game 6 - Win 9 - 4
Game 7 - Win 18 - 4
Game 8 - Win 19-7
Game 9 - Win 9-5
Game 10 - Rainout
Game 11 - Win 16-9

haha...exactly what I told them after the game. But, once we up 10 runs, I put in the less experienced players.
Frozen rope, meaning he didn't throw it 50 feet up in the air to get the ball to home.......it was more of a "line drive" type throw

okay. i though that, but i've never heard it called frozen rope.
he's not falsifying his birth certificate is he?

:monty:
Actually he is 11 and signed up late....he is in our league due to his lack of game experience.
My ace pitcher is only 9 and pitches/throws better than most of the kids at the next level. He also hit a grand slam in that 23-13 win :star1: :star1: :star1: :star1:

i didn't know little league coaches actually care this much about their team winning. :what:
when i played LL baseball, there was one coach who's team won every year. i was on his team every year except one.

You lucky bastard. I had 4 players who had never played the game before (ages 13 to 14.) Teaching completely green rookies how to throw correctly and actually hit the ball against pitchers who have been honing their craft for 5-6 years really takes a toll on you.
Also, we somehow managed to keep most of the games close, so putting the players in different positions to see who can play where never seemed to happen till the end of the year. I always went with the regulars in their spots.
So in a tune up exhibition game, the worst player on the team wants to pitch and I let him. 8 straight strikes later, I'm kicking myself for not trying him sooner.

I had that happen to me in the Fall league.
One of the reasons I like to move players around, is so that they can know what it feels like to play every position. Also, I believe it helps them at their regular position because they get an idea what the other positions are supposed to do and now know what they have to do.

Game 1 - Win 18-5
Game 2 - Win 23-13
Game 3 - Win 15 -8
Game 4 - Win 26-5 (the game technically ended when we were up 14, but we kept playing so both teams can practice)

We practice alot.... and everyone is a hitter but yeah, so far most games have been unevenly matched. There are two teams we havent played yet and I hear they are pretty good. One of the teams coaches I am friends with and he said his team is ready for us. I have only used my ace pitcher for 3 innings so far.
Last year I was on the other end of this until the last few games where the team actually started applying what I tought them.
As a mtter of fact, I am taking my son to the batting cages tonight. I usually have him practice one or two steps up from his league speed.

I love karma. For 2 years I taught the same horseshit team how to play baseball, then the third year they actually played baseball. Made me proud.

Thats how it is in our division......doesnt make sense though.......if they are 12 and not at the upper level, they cant be too good at it. Also, it may be because ours starts at 8

But tonight will be different...for tonight, the three players that missed the game we had lost, will be there.

hopefully my son wont be too tired from his field trip to the amusement park....plus it is supposed to be like 90 degrees.
no excuses though......we shall have our revenge.....
The other coach is a friend of mine and is really competitive, so it should be fun....

I get quite a laugh from the fact that kids aged 8 - 12 playing baseball pitch at the same distance as grown men playing softball.
And once they hit 14 - 15. they're playing major league distance.
Just another reason to believe that Softball isn't a sport.
