Not really. It was a case of least worst principle I think. Blair isn't as bad as Howard, and not enough people had enough faith in the Lib Dems to give them a chance.

Of course, IF AND WHEN some proper democracy comes to this country, not the First-Past-The-Post system, then they might just stand a chance...

Isn't it always least-worst principle? Pretty much everywhere?

People voted for Kerry because he wasn't as bad as Bush. People voted for Bush because they a) were stupid or b) thought he wasn't as bad as Kerry.

well tzarina i guess i dont want to dissagree with you!

my people didnt lose i voted for 'em knowing they will lose (Liberal democrates) everyone in england knew the outcome. i and as most people did voted for the lib dims so they can get more seats and maybe become stronger, because of all these votes uk has now become a 3 party thingy. so in the long no! my party didnt loose.

and thank you for pointing it out yeah! cheers love :hmm:

Yeah, our system is fucked - Labour got 36% the vote or something like that, but still have a majority of 66. Lib Dems got like, 28-29%, something like that? They only got 62 seats. I voted for 'em, though.

sounds like the US... Anyplace where people vote is ending up almost as screwed as places with no form of democracy... Greed is always too much of an overwhelming factor... I know here people often choose who they vote for because of the amount of money said person feels that the candidate has put into their pocket. Or the amount of things that can be gotten free from government programs is viewed as important by other sects of society... People are not, in general, able to look for and in turn vote for what best represents the bigger picture... it's just all about what's best for them personally, but can't expect any change since this is how most people LIVE and exist thinking their entire lives... :stooges:

Having said that, i sometimes wonder, or ponder the idea that I COULD BE WRONG... maybe the republicans do have something right  I think there is not enough of trying to view both sides of thought and an issue in any of these politics...
--oh yea Mojo, THAT last comment is not meant for you, but another person who seems to think what they believe is always what is best...

why do 99% of your comments make no sense, and seem nothing but confrontational?...
Welp, i guess since your people lost... most people don't agree with you eh?
I mean seriously how do your comments relate to this statement...? You didn't win, or the person you desired did not... not even anything to disagree with there... :erm:

I have NO opinion on this issue, just stating a fact... guy you wanted didn't win, happened here too for a good part of people... and the reason is that more people voted for the Republicans... no reason to be bitter... just a part of politics...:bang:

The Independent (www.independent.co.uk) is doing a petition for Proportional Representation, so people think their vote might actually count (for example, I live in a constituency where the Tories could nominate a goat and it would be elected), and to end tactical voting and prevent things like this election - Blair won with a majority of 67, with 36% the popular vote and 22% public approval rating.
