can someone show me a link to what makes macs any better for graphic / audio applications than windows? I think its a bunch of bullshit.

Anyway, i could never get used to the one button mouse, but i like the OSX interface better than the windows one, so i got Objectdock, which kicks major ass.

BS... nope, no links! Why? It's just common knowledge! Why? Because I said so you twit!!! No seriously, Mac was on the leading edge of the industry of design when they became the first computer used in desktop publishing. Somehow, and I'd have to find a fax the printed artcles to you, the managed to be the first to give uses any real control over their fonts (you know, more than just picking Times or Arial). If you owned a design house or a design department, and you wanted to get into using computers (as opposed to doing it all by hand like JUST 12 years ago or so), you bought your designer an Apple because that was the only computer to get for the job. It just sort of stuck. Now, why are they "better" for the uses you mentioned? I guess when it comes right down to it they really aren't strictly better, they have simply become the industry standard. Sure, some places use PCs. Silicone Graphics was the heavy hitter for 3D animation for a while there, but chances are if you esign something and take it to a professional printer, they are going to look at you sideways if you give them a PC file rather thna a Mac file. This creative industry adopted Macs as their computer of choice years ago, so "communicating" with others within the biz as far as file sharing and outsourcing is concerned is just a lot easier if they stay with the standard. How many coporate offices do you think actually use Macs? Why? IBM... International Business Machines, they did in the business world what Mac did in the creative one, established a standard.

And the one button mouse... yeah, that takes a few hours to get used to, but not much more than that (at least it didn't for me). There are dozens of aftermarket 2,3,4 and 5 button mice available for the Mac.

I'm going to the apple store tomorrow to check things out. I was on their web site a couple of days ago and noticed that a lot of the processors aren't has fast as the PC ones and they don't have as much RAM...are they just as fast as PCs? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

DarkenElise, your answer has no facts or proof as to why macs are better. All you claim is that they are the first computers for designers, thus becoming the "standard", when the truth is that they arent any better at design work than PCs (or i have yet to see real proof).

yes i read about "ease of use" "yearly costs" and all the other pointless shit, which HAVE NO BEARING ON A COMPUTERS PERFORMANCE (it says an average of $1800 a year to maintain a PC? Bullshit). Show me performance comparisons of Mac vs PCs. I just quickly ran through 3 sites from :google: and all confirm that pcs beat the shit out of macs in video and photo rendering speeds, which macs were supposedly better at.

PCs perform faster than MACs using the exact same programs.

The defense of Macintosh propose these cases for evaluation:

Case 1 (http://macspeedzone.com/archive/4.0/WindowsvsMacdesktop.html)

Case 2 - Look at centre of the FAQ (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/faq/technical_performance_2.html)

Case 3 (http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/36964.html)

For now, the defense rests...

Build it, jazz (http://www.macupdate.com) and they will come...

Toast is the commercial market standard fare, I believe. (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8719) but there are some shareware and freeware models that you can also look at...

Also iMovie/iLife, etc. (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10463) got good reviews...
