They decay the tissue all around the bite, unless treated very well. It can eat holes in your skin bigger than softballs pretty much.

Person

Yeah they apparently aren't that bad, just cause severe irritation and stuff. I think they live in colonies also sometimes, so you find a whole bunch of them together which can be bad. It's meant to be very painful, but not cause something weird and awful to happen like get gangrene or paralysis.

It still looks bad though

MojoFearsSatan
April 23rd, 2005, 04:42 PM
most spiders aren't. But some fuckers are horrible.

the average person will eat around 8 spiders a year when they simply crawl in your mouth and into your stomach while you sleep. Not so bad. But imagine waking up and having a bird-eating spider or something trying to crawl down your throat and waking up during it.

Godless
April 23rd, 2005, 04:45 PM
no fuckin' thanks. I can't even imagine that...well, I can but I really don't want to

MojoFearsSatan
April 23rd, 2005, 04:49 PM
get a good mental image of it, man. See the big hairy legs feeling around.

You know what's the worst? When you're scared you tense up. What do you do when you tense up and something's in your mouth? Your automatic, natural reaction is to bite down.

Godless
April 23rd, 2005, 04:54 PM
imagine swallowing it...if it was small enough...trying desperately to crawl out of your throat into your mouth. I'm pretty sure if it went that far, I'd vomit

MojoFearsSatan
April 23rd, 2005, 04:58 PM
well, imagine (and this is probably worse) waking up to find it halfway INTO your mouth - then having the same reaction. That's a definite vomit-bringer, that is.

It is indeed a bat. It's hanging upside down trying to sleep. The head is a sort of triangular shape with the nose and mouth at the top, near where the wings are, the eyes in the middle and the ears at the bottom. I'm failing miserably to see a fish in it, sorry... it looks like a bat to me. I want a pet bat, personally.

I did research on bats at university, and they are the most extrordinary of animals... I can't wait to take my new camera and tripod and get awesome pics of all the bats around here. I just did some checking up on those things, and it turns out they aren't so bad... mostly myth, and pretty much harmless to humans.

The size in the photo is exaggerated, and they have no venom. May cause pain when they bite, and the bite may become infected, but that's all they are going to do.

I hate snakes.

I don't trust anything that has no limbs. It's a head on a tail, that isn't right.

Plus, getting squeezed to death by a constrictor and then swallowed whole is probably one of the worst ways to die in my opinion (right up there with being eaten by a shark.) I guess I just don't like the thought of being eaten.

but spiders also suck.

No fears of drowning? And by the way... snakes aren't so bad either. Just leave wild ones alone and they won't bother you. If you know how to handle them, you would probably figure they're easier than dealing with spiders. (Considering you want to keep them alive, which I'm going to presume that you do).

That and buried alive are the worst ways to go (unless you count having your stomach slit open with a rusty hacksaw, then being forcefed your own liver, spleen and pancreas, then having your bowels tugged out and stuffed into your face until the offal works its way through the remains of your digestive system and you drown in your own crap. That would probably be the worst).
