My girlfriend and I have been talking about getting married. Not anytime soon, but it's something we've both considered.

Granted, we have our problems, and I bitch about her (and I'm sure she does me), but we are ultimately in love with each other. It's actually quite nice.

I have conducted a poll to help me decide which approach I should take, if any at all.

Wait a year or 2 before actually proposing with the whole ring and shit

Do it now...

Don't do it at all...

I haven't given details about our relationship becaue I want unbiased opinions, but for those of you who have read me bitch and also rave about my girlfriend, should have a little bit of insight and help me out here...

Now... there will be no set date or any shit like that... This is just an engagement. Now, depending on the future, and everything else like that, engagements can be broken if needs be.

Help me out here...

I read this much
My girlfriend and I have been talking about getting married. Not anytime soon, but it's something we've both considered.

Then I voted....Don't do it!

Edit: After reading the rest of your post, my opinion remains the same.

1. how long have you been together?
2. how are your careers?
3. do you plan on getting a home?
4. do you have credit problems? does she?
5. have you resolved the financial situation after marriage? when you plan on having a child?

answer those five questions and I'll get back to you...

I'm 20 and I KNOW I am not ready for any of that.

I say trade her in for a car.

Mom accused of trading girl for car, selling another into prostitution
Associated Press

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. — A woman was arrested for allegedly forcing her 12-year-old daughter into prostitution and trading a 14-year-old daughter for a car.

The 39-year-old woman was charged with aggravated child abuse and sexual performance by a child. Both girls have been turned over to the Department of Children & Families.

The youngest girl and her mother were living out of their car, and would sell sex for food and an occasional shower at the men's homes, according to a report by Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office Detective K.J. Ammons.

The youngest daughter is three months pregnant, the report said; she was 11 when her mother first forced her to have sex with a man. The older daughter refused to be a prostitute and was allegedly sold for a car.

"She was sold to a man for a Mercury Cougar," Ammons said. "But he never gave the mother the vehicle." He was arrested in the case.

The youngest girl told detectives her mother took them out of school. "She said she was a good student and made A's and B's, and all she wants to do is go back to school," he said.

My advice.....live with each other for a year or so first.

- Ask her if she'll have a threesome with you and if she says no, then wait a year or 2... :bump:

if you're having doubts so much as to post a poll on a message board, i think you should re-think the whole marriage thing...at least for now.

it's like if i posted a poll asking if i should quit cigarettes. i know that i have to, but it has to come from me and from me only or else it won't work.

First off... Funny as shit

Secondly... as far as jazz goes... it's not that I'm posting a poll to help me decide (even tho it says "help me decide")... just wanted to know how other people would approach the situation... hence, the lack of details... nothing more, nothing less...

Thanks for your insight, tho! ;)

Edit: Also... it's not a question of if I will or won't... I put the "Don't do it" on there because I know people would look for that option... It will happen... I'm just wrestling with the "when" part of it.

Also, when I do decide to do it, I already know how I'm going to do it. It's going to be the bomb... It's going to be "are you smart enough for me?" kind of thing.

I'm going to post subtle clues around the house that will lead her on an extravagant(sp?) hunt for the ultimate glory, which is me, waiting at this 5 star restaurant called "Mc Donald's" for a romantic dinner (because that's all I'll be able to afford after purchasing her engagement ring) and hide the ring in her cheeseburger. After she bites into that beauty, that crazy bitch'll have to say yes!

w00t!

We've been fuckin' for a considerable amount of time, now. That information is irrelivant to the thread... as I said... minimal details to ensure an unbiased opinion. ;)

Of course it's irrelevant...but the first part of the question is not. If people are deciding on something, shouldn't they have all the information they can possibly have? Who is going to be biased, anyway?

You pose a valid point, Godless... we've been going out long enough for me to be sure that she is someone that I would most likely marry...

I have also been married once before (about 6 or 7 years ago) and I know that it's not anything that I will ever rush into...
