Are the Doom III rumors true?

i went to xbox.com yesterday and there were a few people claiming that they already have doom III. yet i called both gamestop/eb games and they both confirmed april 4th as the release date.

has anyone tried walmart yet? cause i doubt they're allowed to release it early.

I dont think im getting this. The graphics look great and it looks scary, but other than that its just a standard FPS and I dont think I feel like playing something like that right now, especially with all the stuff thats been coming out.

that's why i'm trying to find out if the xbox version will have the cheat to play in 3rd person....then i would get it...

Jazz... to address what you heard on Xbox.com, it's possible that somewhere let some out but after the Target/HALO2 fiasco, I don't think it would happen. Kids at Xbox are always talking crap.

Mago... dunno... I'm doubting it though. DOOM3 is supposedly already going to be taxing the Xbox, adding another playing style seems like a bit much. Then again, I don't know squat about programming games!!!

You can change to 3rd person view on the PC version of Doom III by typing in the corresponding code into the console. Overall, I think the game looks good and plays well, but the entire graphics base has too much of a "plasticy" feel for my taste.
