Anybody interested in this game? Some elements sound really interesting, like taking drugs which give you a temporary boost of some kind, but can get you addicted, getting demoted to beat cop if you do too many bad things, and possibly getting kicked off the force if you keep doing them, drug test mini games, GTA style open city, only $20. Im keeping an eye out for reviews.

Yeah, apparently the police station gives you drug tests and you have to pass them with mini games, like walking a straight line I think is one of them.

A hit of crack makes your character a crack shot. Using speed lets him run really fast. A toke of marijuana slows things down to a slo-mo replay.

One analyst told The New York Times you see violence in video games because it's "embraced in our culture." But he doesn't think "drugs are an appropriate thing."

Fair warning -- while using a little something improves your narcotics officer's performance, too much reliance on drugs gets him addicted.

"NARC" is for PlayStation 2 and Xbox and is rated M for ages 17 and older.

Ok, so I picked this game up yesterday after struggling with the decision whether or not to buy it. Played for a total of about 3 1/2 hours last night. Here's my initial feelings:

Graphics, which should not come as a shock to anyone, are nothing special, to say the least. However, for those of us who are not graphics wh0res, they dont need to be in order for the game to be fun. Just pretty plain and bland. But the game is able to handle many, many characters on screen at once. The city is decent sized. Not huge, but there's a good enough area to roam around in.

The gameplay, while mostly fairly simplistic, still manages to be fun and addictive (no pun intended). I actually only played seriously, with missions and such, for about 1 1/2 hours, and after that I spent 2 hours sandboxing. The drugs, while im not too sure how often I will be tempted to use them during the game, are interesting nonetheless. They actually did a very good job with the effects while on drugs. The way things blur, and you hear all these voices, its done quite well, and when you smoke weed there is some 1960's style music that starts playing while everything slows down. I applaud them for an excellent job in the drug effects department. Busting criminals, while it gets repetitive, is somehow quite addicting. There's also 3 card monte and dice games to be found in the city. I only found the card game and its a cool little diversion that allows you to make a few bucks. The couple of missions that I did were pretty well done. More complex than one might think for a budget game. Also, while just messing around with drugs and such, I went to take a mission while high and got drug tested. It was a mini game where I had to follow the guy's moving finger. Needless to say I failed and got booted off the force. Apparently the tests are random though because I tried a bunch of other times and did not get tested. The weapons work decently so far and there's always lots of crimes going on all over the place, and people cursing all around and so on.

Overall, id say the game is certainly worth $20. If you require cutting edge graphics, stay away. If you just wanna have some fun in between your other games, its very cool.
