Except really.. Loretty Lynn I kinda like her, but haven't listened to much.. if she's who I think she is (the one from Oh Brother?).

I think so... what I know is this, Loretta Lynn was the first woman, in any genre of music, who was able to both write and perform her own music... she is a legend to a female artist like myself
Buddy Holly is another for me, he was the first allowed to write, perform, and PRODUCE his music, The Crickets...
I have alot of appriciation for very old music...

I don't mind genres and labelling music. It's very useful. I just don't really know how to rank them.
Rock has a million different sub-genres. I listen to a lot of those sub-genres that have radically different sounds, but for just about any genre I can think of there are artists I enjoy and artists that suck. I can't think of one that I'm obsessed with.
Saying I like "jazz" or "classical" is being sort of vague. I prefer bop and post-bop jazz artists to the big band swing stuff, which I don't really dig. Overall I probably like the Baroque period of classical music the best, as Romanticism can sometimes get a bit corny.
So I don't know. It's too hard.

Same here. It helps ou understand what something is like. I only have a problem when people buy only based on genre.

maybe i should've phrased the question a little more differently...i should've asked: what music do you listen to the most and list them by the most time dedicated or something.
EDIT: fuck it, i went ahead and changed the one word that had doomed this thread from the start.
from 'rank' to 'list.'

That's really how I felt.. but I just guessed at how they'd be ranked. But also.. I like some bands in some generes better than other generes.. even if I like the other band's genre better. So I really can't rank them. So I just tried my best.
